God’s Rain

After hearing an inspiring story the first night about the Lord bringing literal rain to a drought-stricken Kenya I was consumed with the image of bringing God's rain to the Kenyans  this summer.  During the afternoon our team was challenged to paint a canvas with an image that described what we saw or wanted God to do in Kenya. We each chose a phrase to put on it and I chose "bring God's rain".  That's what I want to do as we pour out our lives on these people. Just as we finished painting it began to rain outside the cabin. It was such a refreshing...

Kenya, We Are HERE!

My team and I are finally in the place that we have been looking forwards to for months! Training camp created an experience that both strengthened our team, and strengenthed each of our dependence on our Lord. Personally, I have already come so far from where I began, and I am so excited to see where the Lord plans to take us on our journey. It is so beautiful here, so bright, and so full of culture. I can already see the beauty that the Lord delites in through His creation. The family that is hosting us, Pastor Simon and his wife Margaret, are so sweet and have already exceeded our...

Safe in Kenya!

We just spoke with the team leaders and they've all arrived safely in Kenya.  They are in route to their ministry sites and will be settling in these next few days and getting some orientation from their host.  Expect to see some blogs rolling out in the next few days as they find internet. Thanks for all the prayers for this team! Real Life field support team

This is so Uncomfortable

The last 4 days have probably been 4 of the most unocomfortable  in my life. Walking into camp and being told to pick only 3  things to use for the next 12 hours: uncomfortable. Sleeping outside on a tarp in a lean to that my team built: uncomfortable. Worshipping in a building without air conditioning: uncomfortable. Being completely open and vulnerable with a team of people I just met on Friday: uncomfortable. And yet the excitement is building! God has taught me so much about myself, about team building, and mostly about learning how to be completely open and flexible! he...

My Kenya Familia

Three days of training camp and I’ve been given a new family. From the moment my teammates stepped out of their prospective vehicles and sat down in a circle at the Chattanooga airport we have been united to one cause, one purpose, that is, to become more Christ-like in every possible way. I am overwhelmed time and time again by how intent the 15 of us are on serving the Lord by demonstrating genuine love to one another and the people of Kenya who we haven’t even met yet. Whether its cleaning up after each other, sharing food or being painfully transparent, we are day by day...

This Is Not The End But The Beginning

Four months of “Holy Spirit Ridiculousness” has taken place in Kenya, Africa…being stretched, being thrown outside our comfort zones, growing in our faith, getting closer to our Heavenly Father, learning who we truly are in Christ, knowing the power that we have through Jesus, and bringing Kingdom. We have seen the impossible become possible, we have cried, we have laughed, we have mourned, we have loved the unlovable, and have even danced with drunkards. Countless children, men and women have come to know Christ, whole families have cried...
