Steadfast Love

"Because of your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.  So, I will bless you as long as I live; in Your name I will lift up my hands"-Psalm 83 About 4 months ago, I answered the Lord's call to go to Kenya and love on His people there, to teach them about His love, to tell them the life changing gospel.  I chose to listen to God and go on this trip, thinking that He would be using me to change peoples lives.  I knew that I, too, would be changed after this trip, but I didn't realize that God would bring more life and transformation...

Stretching My Spirit

Have you ever tried stretching taffy as far as it will go? The middle  starts to fade in color until it's eventually white. A thick chunk gets pulled until the strand is as thin as a spiders web. These past few days at training camp have stretched me immensely. From ministering to people in downtown Atlanta during the middle of our first night, to letting go of my fears of going to Kenya and not knowing what to expect. Through different activities and meetings throughout training camp, God has been teaching me how to surrender my want to control, and to instead be willing to...

Surrender

Training Camp has been a great place to meet my team and getting to know more about there life and the things that they have been through. Also the reason that God has brought them here and has brought us all together on this adventure to Kenya and share the Gospel with there.  Like the rich young ruler who asked the Lord what he must do to have eternal life. God has shown me through and activity that everyone did. That there were things in my life that i needed to surrender to him. I couldn't  take them on this trip with me since He needed my time, thought and full attention...

The Beginning

Many of my teammates are writing blogs about expectations of Training Camp, but I sort of knew what to expect.  My most ardent blog followers will know of my previous involvement with The World Race and the adversity I encountered during Training Camp in May.  Those experiences are what led me to defer to the Kenya Real Life trip.  I realized that I was nowhere near ready enough to give up 11 months to God.  So now here I am preparing to depart for Kenya for 3 1/2 months.  Am I ready? Upon arrival in Atlanta this past Friday, we were shuttled to a homeless shelter...

When God Shows Up

How does one recognize when God shows up? God is always reaching down from heaven to hold us, but sometimes we just can't feel His loving arms around us. Well, I discovered these past four days of training camp just how often God shows up in tangible ways. I just didn't recognize the signs before. My trip got off to a rocky start when my flight into Atlanta for training camp was delayed about three hours, making me late for the designated arrival time. As I waited in the airport, panic and anxiety set in. To pass the time, I read my Bible and daily devotional journal. The...

Out of My Comfort Zone

These last 4 days of training camp have been so life changing. Who would have thought that my life would be turned upside down before I even got to Kenya! It has definititely made me step out of my comfort zone. But it is a good thing. I have to be forced out of my comfort zone so that I can grow and be where God wants me to be. Usually when I hear God,I just keep it to myself and just allow other people to do the talking. But training camp has really made me more comfortable with sharing what God has placed on my heart and not caring about...
