HOPE

On Wednesday we were getting ready for our “Revival” church service and the power went out because of the rain. The women in the house were still making dinner, we still needed to eat, and get ready. Everyone got out there headlamps and flash flights and tried to put the flashlights on our food so we could see what we were eating. We were waiting around waiting to leave and the service started at 7pm and it was 7:30pm. We have somewhat gotten used to being late to our own church service that we put on, I guess its normal here. We asked...

GOD wants YOU!

On April 17th, 2011, I got the honor and privilege to preach at Deliverance Church, our ministry partner here in Busia.  As I was praying on Saturday, God gave me the words to say…what follows are the words that I wrote down after that encounter. “God, You are more than a heavenly ATM…we aren’t just supposed to do to You when we want to be blessed, when we’ve got a problem and need Your help, but also when life is  good, just to talk to You, just to experience You.  I have come to learn that You desire a relationship with us, and just like a...

It’s A Heart Thing

What is an "identity?"       Is it what we wear? Is it what we look like, what we sound like, what kind of habits we have? Is it what kind of music we listen too or what type friends we have? Is it what kind of food we eat? Is it what kind of job we have or what type of car or truck we drive? Holy Spirit Explosion in Hospital – A Must Read

Holy Spirit Explosion in Hospital – A Must Read      Posted in General Posts by Michael Sanders on 3/29/2011       Some demons told him that if he didn’t poison himself, they were going to chop him up into pieces with machetes…   “Oh Praise the One Who paid my debt And raised this life Up from the dead”   I sang this over Michael, as he lay there in a coma, moments from death.  There was a tube connected through his nose that was sucking the poison out of his body.  On...

I now live on Extraordinary Lane

There are days where I sit and wonder what I am doing with my life. Seriously, who in their right mind takes a trip to Kenya , raises over $6,000, leaves college, misses the birth of her first nephew, leaves every person she has ever loved, spends four months in a third-world country with 13 strangers, spends way too much money on other people, says that God told her to do it, and, to top it off, decides to move there? Who does that?!             It all started with a...

A Life Changed

This is Samuel. He's 20 years old. His life has been anything but easy. His parents died when he was young and he went from living with his grandparents for a few years, to living with a few friends, and during all of this he had to be separated from his brothers and sisters. As you have probably figured out already, Samuel is an orphan. Over the last two weeks of our stay in Mpeketoni, I was blessed with the opportunity to become friends with Samuel and learn about his life. He wasn’t in school because he didn’t have enough money to even start high school, his job was...
