Ready to Go

Since we have arrived here in Kenya, we have had the opportunity to spend a couple days to rest and catch up on missed sleep.  It has given me the opportunity to spend some time in the word and to talk to the other missionaries here in Kijabe.  It has been a great couple of days for me to reflect on my life and why I am here.             These verses really stuck out to me and made me realize that I need to be better prepared for the questions I get asked.  "Walk in wisdom toward...

3 Year Old Year Worshiper

Kevin is the most beautiful, little African boy I have met in Kijabe. His heart is so content, and he brings laughter everywhere he goes. His big brown eyes are so compassionate. This morning we were all sitting down writing in our journals and spending time with our Heavenly Father, and in the door walks our favorite 3 year boy, Kevin. One of the girls on my team was playing the guitar and Kevin ran over and started strumming the guitar the best he could and then he would laugh at himself and dance to the music. It was such a precious moment!...

Kenya squeeze me!

We have arrived in Kenya!  We have been living in Kijabe with Pastor Simon and his wife Margret. Today we leave and are heading out to the bush. Our team will be living with the Massaai tribe! I am so excited to spend time with them! We will be doing youth and young child outreach along with door to door ministry. Another tribe I know we will be staying with is the Pokot. In church sunday, we learned that the Pokot tribe is "in salved by the culture". They do not know Swahili and they do not go to school. The Pokot tribe is  "trapped in their culture". Pastor...

We have reached the Mother Land… Or Close Enoiugh

So even though I'm on a plane on my way home I'm gonna try to do a quick fill-in of my past 2 weeks.  Last week we went to Challenge Farm in Kitale. The easiest way to explain it is like a boarding school for street kids, buts it's a home. Mama Cheri started it in 1992 and now they have over 130 kids. I made great friends with 3 girls named Maggy, Diana, and Alice. Everyday they wrote me notes about how much they loved me and that I was like a mother to them. Needless to say, when we left, it broke my heart when they started crying as I told them goodbye.  Saturday...

The Adventure Never Ends

So, Africa. I don’t even know where to begin. This trip has been absolutely amazing! I seriously love everything about this place and these people. Not to say that it doesn’t have its rough times, but the good times completely outweigh the hard. Everything here is beautiful. The sky is always showing Gods glorious creativity and the African trees are stunning! I love the Kenyan accents and the Children’s big white smiles! I love waking up at 5:30 every morning to go spend an hour with Jesus as I watch the sunrise and I love walking the dirt roads along side all the random...

I love because He first loved me

Last Wednesday we went to Mama's orphanage and it was a goodbye party for a woman who is helping them build a school. We ate food with the kids and then we went into the cafeteria to dance and eat dessert and sing. We all sat and the kids are in our laps hanging out, some were sleeping. They had music playing were setting up some cake for everyone to eat. The cake was round and in America it would feed about 10 people a good amount of cake. There are over 130 kids in this place ranging from the ages of 3 months to early twenties. That is a lot of kids with very little cake. They sang...
