Currently, I find myself seated at a "Cyber cafe" in Naivasha. I am unsure of that spelling, but, I the internet is too slow to currently run a Google search confirming my chosen spelling, so, I will leave it spelled that way.
The last two weeks of my life I have spent living of among the Masai people, working with the African Inland Church in Tangi Tatu. Tangi Tatu is likely one of the more dry and dusty places I have ever been, though, it is filled with some of the most welcoming and friendly people I have ever had the opportunity to meet.
During our time in Tangi Tatu, we worked with Pastor's Jehosophat and Amos door-to-door ministry. Initially, this was not a tactic was I terribly fond of, nor did I believe it was too "effective", if you will, in actually living out of the gospel and demonstrating how it can affect and change lives. Days after arriving, I had a conversation with Pastor Jehosophat about how I felt about the ministry, which he initiated, and I simply shared with him my feelings. This conversation brought an entirely new aspect to the ministry, and really changed, entirely, my previous feelings about it.
We really do bring such hope and encouragement by our presence at the homes of the people we visited. Our willingness to live among them for as long as we have, and to walk ten to fifteen miles a day just to visit schools and homes, I trust, has had a far greater impact than many of us will know or see.
For now, I leave you with that. I am far too warm sitting in this "cyber cafe", pecking away at a very loud and very aged keyboard. Adios!
