Please Pray

The past 2 weeks i spent at a tribe called Pokot. It took 12 hours to get there from Lijabe and the roads were not the best. Hard to believe that vehicles can drive on tha tmany rocks and make it. Once we arrived, we recieved a warm welcome from Pastor Musa and  the church. They had tea ready for us as we were getting settled in.

During our two weeks there i experienced many differrent things, having to live without electricity, not having a shower when i wanted one. Seeing a camel around everywhere and also having the pooortunity to milk one. These are just some of them, but the people of Pokot live in the bush of Africa abd are surrounded by mountains and not having easy access to the outside world. Just to get phone service to call you have to go to a certain rock which is right beside a certain tree and stand on it.

My whole team had the opportunity to teach at the local school and a chance to make a connection with the kids on a more personal level. Two of the girls helped at a preschool, which was held at the A.I.Church, for kids who's parents couldn't affored to send there kids to school.Coltan and I helped teach at the preschool at the school. There were about 50 kids and only one teacher. Most of the kids didn't have a book or even a pencil to write with, and the only eraser in the whole class was one that was at the end of a pencil or they licked their finger and rubbed it off. Teaching these kids was a challange since most of them didn't know how to write numbers or  the ABC's. But i realized that once i spent one on one time with Dorcas (a girl who brought her baby sister Caro with her to school everyday on her back) that they trully all have the potential and willingness to learn. The teacher just doesn't have time to spend with each child individually. Some of these children have been in that class for 3 years, because they have to learn from what the teacher writes on the board and than rewite it, so they are foreced to have their own will power to learn. Two days while we taught, hte teacher just didn't show up, once because her child was sick. This is very hard for me to see that education isn't the most important things to them. While working and playing with the children i prayed for their future and families. and i ask you to also pray for them.

hte church has a lot of youth that are serving the Lord and helping out where its needed. During the two weeks we spent there, we also did door-to-door ministry and the last night showed The Jesus Filmat the church. 50 some people came to Christ during this time and some has never heard of Jesus before. God is at work in this tribe and he will contiue to work. So i'm asking you to pray for Pastor Musa and the Church that they could stay encouraged and look to the Lord for their strengh. The Pokot Tribe is very traditional and for some its hard to let go of that and to go to church and also believe in God. Since they have never know anything else, even education isn't important to them.

Please pray for these lost souls that they could be saved and come tyo know Christ as there personal Savior. I believe that God is going to bring change to that tribe for the good. We just need to pray against Satan, so he won't have a strong hold with the people. Cause God is greater and so much more powerful than we can even imagine. Pray.
