Well, I have not written a blog in a few weeks and that is mainly because I’ve been too lazy to sit down and write out my thoughts (as horrible as that sounds). Today, February 18, I went with one of my teammates (Andy) to visit some orphans…one was a 15 year-old girl named Paris and the other was a 12 year-old boy named John. Andy and Paris took some chairs, sat down, and had a conversation in almost fluent English. While that was going on, I sat with John and tried to begin a conversation with him through his aunt; I’m not going to lie but that was really awkward! So I took a couple sheets of regular printer paper, and we made paper airplanes together. However, what amazed me the most was how I folded a piece of regular, white printer paper into a little triangle and taught John how to play paper football and just how much fun we had doing that. It was awesome just seeing him laugh and joke while we were playing…it became even more fun once Paris and Andy came back because we staged a paper football tournament and we all participated, including their aunt. By the time we were picked up, the once crisp looking corners and the pure white color were replaced by ragged edges and a layer of dirt. I’m just glad that I got the change to help those two kids laugh just by folding a piece of paper and playing a game with them!!!
