There are many rules/ things I’ve learned while being in Kenya.
-
Never ask what the meat is
-
Always bring salt to every meal
-
You BETTER like peanut butter and jelly
-
Never eat beans and then squish in a car
-
When given the opportunity ALWAYS use the nice toilets..They are rare
-
Don’t drink a lot of water during the day because you’ll be forced to use the squaty
-
When asked if there is room the answer is ALWAYS yes.
-
There is no point in showering…you will never get clean
-
Always carry a head lamp
-
The power will go out at least two times a day
-
Never count on a full night of sleep
-
NEVER tell your boda-boda (bike man) to race…you might crash
-
When you’re given a time by an African add at least 2 hours to that
-
Don’t ever say you want a little….that means more to africans
-
Be prepared to sweat, dance, and scream every Sunday
-
Africans have the toughest hands therefore they think you do too.
-
Don’t pick up a pan that Africans say is “NOT HOTT”…refer to 16
-
When you hear Mzungu it always means you.
-
Mama is always right…don’t bother to argue
-
Don't pretend you can play the drums…you will be asked to play them in church
All of these things I have experienced first hand.
Our ministry schedule changes every week. This week we had a crusade and a revival everyday. The devil tried to stop me from going by giving me a stomach infection but I got medicine and was better in a day. Praise the Lord. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mary (our chef) in the kitchen and it is absolutely amazing. They have hands that can pick up coals and slaughter whole chickens. I was told I would have to slaughter the next one. I can’t wait. The revival was a long church service but was awesome. Pastor Charles talked about what if God called you to do something you weren’t planning on. It was very eye-opening because I always expect God to work with my plans but I’ve been learning that my plan isn't always God’s plan. His is so much greater. God has been breaking down walls within me and the Kenyan people since I’ve been here. Please continue to pray for:
-
The holy spirt to break down more walls within me
-
Open Kenyan’s hearts and ears
-
Health within our team
-
For strength because we are fasting this week
