5 things you don’t see in America

Hey everyone,     Were going on I think week 4 in Kenya and so far its been awesome. Our team has been doing some pretty amazing things. We have been in the Kijabe Hospital and been able to watch a surgery standing right next to the bed. We caught a goat, held its four legs down and killed it, then later on we ate the meat from its head… We have done some new and interesting things to say the least.        Lately, we have been going to a place called the IDP Camp. It somewhat resembles a refugee camp because the people who are living there were...

Intimacy in Kenya!

Hello from Kenya! I had a difficult time deciding what to write my blog about this week.  I really wanted to share what we have been doing at the school, hospital, and IDP camp but I feel like God is telling me to share what he has been teaching me.  It seems like intimacy with God and pursuing God continually come up during group discussions, devotionals, and reading books.  Most recently I was reading in the book of Matthew (20: 29-34) the story about two blind men.  In the story it explains that Jesus was waking by where two blind men were sitting. Both knew who...

Life Changing Letters: IDP

Hello Friends! I apologize in advance by how scatterbrained and sloppy this blog is about to be. As always, internet time is limited so I’ll make this short sweet and to the point. I love Kenya!! The End. But really, this trip has been so amazing so far and it blows my mind to think that its only going to continue to get better. We’ve settled into our tent village in Kijabe after traveling for the first few weeks and are now starting to get involved in the hospitals and schools in the area. Basically, we go to the hospital on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and might teach at a...

Rich in Faith

Hebrews 13:2: “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it.” This past week we had the opportunity to go to the IDP camp located in the Rift Valley. And I can say without a doubt, I am falling in love with the people there! The first time we went, which was Saturday, I was greeted by a 12 year old girl named Emily. I attempted to make conversation with her and much to my surprise, she spoke English very well! She had a smile that shined for miles and for some reason she became attached to me almost...

My thoughts on Team Awkward.

These past couple of weeks have been very difficult for me physically and spiritually. I knew that I was going to go through stuff eventually, but I was kind of hoping God would overlook me…. silly Lizzie. God doesn’t do that!! So, today as I am still processing a lot of God things, I wanted to share some facts and random thoughts about my teammates with all of you!. 🙂 Hannah. She is such joy, she knows how to make people laugh and doesn’t mind wearing the most ridiculous outfits ever. I love it. I also have so many pictures of her craziness. Nick. Always has the...
