Putting the Pieces Together

Week #2: 9-27-2010Our team and family Putting the Pieces Together     Surprisingly, it’s about the women here. Though the majority of the population would disagree. Men are superior and are the ultimate authority. When the rest of Africa tells their women “You’re useless. You’re filthy. You’re only good for reproduction”, it’s hard to see them as anything significantly valuable. This week has been an emotional roller-coaster to say the least.     I’ve said it over and over again since we’ve been here, but...

Love Lessons

   “The giving of love is an education in itself.“      Eleanor Roosevelt    Dearest Family, Friends and loyal Followers of Team Kenya:    Jumbo from Africa! I sincerely apologize for being so awful at writing blogs! I’m definitely going to working on that! So be patient, more are on the way 🙂       Anyway, after the hectic pace of our first two weeks here, my team and I are finally getting into a routine in Kajibe. Depending on what day of the week it is, we minister in either one of the schools...

This is What it Means to be Held

Week #3:  10-06-2010This is What it Means to be Held…. “We’re asking why this happens to us who have died to live. It’s unfair. But….This is what it means to be held, how it feels when the sacred is torn from your life and you survive. This is what it is to be loved and to know that the promise was when everything fell….we’d be held. ….If hope is born of suffering; If this is only the beginning, can we not wait for one hour waiting for our Savior?”  -Natalie Grant,  “Held”     If we’re...

Timothy=Superman

  Timothy is Superman(just saying).  I met him while we were visiting houses in the I.D.P.(Internally Displaced Persons) Camp.  He is ten years old.  The first thing I noticed was his big smile, not the braces on his legs or the crutches he was using to help get around.   You see Timothy was born with clubbed(feet turned in) feet.  The reason he was wearing the braces is because he had an operation to turn them outward so he could walk right.  I must say since the first time I saw him three weeks ago, his feet have been healing so well!  Each time I...

becoming children of God

   Hey guys, it’s amazing to think that i’m only 4 weeks away from coming back home. Kenya is awesome, every day God is working through our team and molding each one of us into His image. God has been putting a lot of stuff on my mind ever since we’ve started focusing most of our time in the hospital and IDP camp.    It seems that wherever our team goes, there seems to be atleast 5 kids behind us pushing and shoving trying to be the one to hold the white person’s hand. This happens more specifically at the IDP camp where our main ministry is...

Grace.

Hello family, friends, readers, commenters, and strangers! Whew, what a week it has been, and then again I can’t believe its been a week! Time is flying by and we don’t have much time left here in the Ken-Y-A! Last week I was processing a lot of things that have been going on in my walk with God and this week God showed up! During prayer time God just showed me that its okay to not know whats going to happen in the future. He let me know it is okay that I am frustrated and that I don’t like where I am in my walk with Him. Something that I’ve learned here is that its...
