I Have a New Heart!!

These past few days the physical part of me has felt terrible. However, these past few days the spiritual part of me has never been better. For those of you who don’t know me too well, I have been having heart issues for about the past 7 months. The doctors can’t explain it really, and don’t know what’s causing it or how to treat it. So it’s just this huge, mysterious burden I have to deal with. Kinda sucks when you’re in the middle of Africa, with blazing heat already messing with your body. So I haven’t been doing too well. However, I am not in...

Paper Football

Well, I have not written a blog in a few weeks and that is mainly because I’ve been too lazy to sit down and write out my thoughts (as horrible as that sounds). Today, February 18, I went with one of my teammates (Andy) to visit some orphans…one was a 15 year-old girl named Paris and the other was a 12 year-old boy named John. Andy and Paris took some chairs, sat down, and had a conversation in almost fluent English. While that was going on, I sat with John and tried to begin a conversation with him through his aunt; I’m not going to lie but that was really awkward! So...

More Then What Meets The Eye

As I was thinking about what I was going to write this blog about these two beautiful faces popped into my head. The faces were of two 5 year old boys, twins, Kaio and Manane. They live in a town that is about 10 min. away from where we are staying. We spent 4 afternoons there preaching, singing, and showing Christ's love to the people in that little town. It was actually on the 2nd day that I saw them. They were absolutely adorable and they had this contagious laugh. I swept Kaio up into my arms and thats when he latched on to me like somehow I was going to let him go. But as he...

Surrendering All!

I will start out by apologizing for not posting sooner, I just could not figure out exactly what I wanted to blog about. There is so much going on and I was unsure of exactly what was the first to be posted. On Valentines Day, I knew what I was supposed to blog about but I have been anticipating the moment to post, it so here it is. At the age of 10, I accepted Christ as my lord in savior, I was scared of Hell and thought that if I just asked God into my heart that was all I had to do to go to heaven. So, I accepted the Lord into my heart and continued living life the same. I was...

Steven Katana: Profile of a Superhero

Hey y'all! Ashley from my team wrote a sweet blog about an experience we had with a man named Steven Katana.  I will share from my perspective: It was very hot.  We walked for twenty minutes.  We showed up at a man's house.  I was half asleep to be honest, and pretty exhausted. Kolby shared for about twenty minutes with the man, Steven Katana.  Ashley, Kolby, Sam B and I met his whole family.  His little girl was very sweet, but kind of scared of me.  I sat and listened.  I didn't expect to speak, I was just going to sit back and let...

“But, I Don’t Have a Bible”

Steven, 21, is a husband, father of 1 (almost 2), drug abuser, alcoholic, and Christ follower. His wife, Mary, is pregnant with their second child. His daughter, Gladys, is cuter than a button. Steven does not have a job or a way to provide for his family. He picks up odd jobs here and there, but none of it is sustaining.      I became acquainted with Steven and his family through our door-to-door ministry. He confessed his drug abuse and explained that he was a Christian, but didn’t fully understand having a relationship with Christ. After...
