A Life Resurrected

Her situation is desperate, and so today she decided to commit suicide. … She was walking through the town and saw a tree.  She had lost all hope, and decided that was the tree she would hang herself on.  She went to a shop and bought some rope, and was going to wait until night to do it.  While waiting, something led her down the road.  She wound up at Deliverance Church, the church we are partnering with here in Kenya.  She wrapped the rope around her waist, put her dress over it, and walked inside. … This afternoon I was in the middle of an...

Her Name is Kayla

Her name is Kayla. 5’9”, and hailing from Bristol, Indiana, Kayla has 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  She once “sort of had a cat named fluffy…. wait, hairball!  Her name was hairball!  She was very fluffy and white, but she died… she got hit by a car… was that the only pet I’ve ever had?  Ohhhh no, I had a fish.  A pet fish”. As a child she played with mud a lot – “a lot a lot”.  She used to steal corn, cut it up, and then pretend to eat it.  Some of her greatest memories as a child were...

It’s A Heart Thing

What is an "identity?"       Is it what we wear? Is it what we look like, what we sound like, what kind of habits we have? Is it what kind of music we listen too or what type friends we have? What kept Christ on the Cross?

I heard this recently, and it really hit me: It wasn't the nails that kept Christ on the cross… It was His love for you and me.   Could a couple nails really keep the King and Creator of the Universe down?? At any moment, Jesus could have walked away from the Father's will.  Even after the intense beating, and after being nailed to the cross, Jesus could have used His power to heal himself and live.  Instead, He chose the Father's will, to the point of His own death.  He chose life and love for you and me. Tonight our team spent time in...

Relentless Havoc

I won’t relent until you have it all…until you have it all. Before I knew the Truth…everything that I used to be…my past…take it all! I will not relent until you have everything that is not me… These things do not tell me who I am…only you can tell me who I am. I once was darkness but now I am light! You have made me pure by your blood! Jesus! Set a fire down inside my soul! Let it burn with your passion! Give me your heart! Let me see what you see! Let me feel what you feel! Show me your will…your thoughts…your truth. Come be...

Brokenness, Innocence, and Drunkeness

It was the last day of crusades at a town called Butula. The night started off great. I already found my little buddy for the night and was looking forward to loving and pouring into the little girl that I held in my arms. But little did I know that things were going to take a drastic turn for the worse. The little girl I had in my arms was almost asleep when I saw him standing at a distance. I am going to guess that he was around the age of 2. He was wearing this long shirt that had 101 dalmations on it, was dirty as can be and had this really vulnerable look about him. I instantly had...
