Battle already won!

We are in a WAR   One thing I knew coming into this trip, was that it was going to be a battle to bring the Gospel to these people. I was right.   Since arriving, we have quickly realized the spiritual battle going on in Mpeketoni, Kenya. Right off the bat I was thrown into the pulpit to preach the first sermon to the church. Spoke on Job and perseverance through struggle and how God has a sovereign plan behind it all. Two days after that, we went into the local hospital and prayed over the sick and hurt. A lot of spiritual warfare in that place. Then time for the...

Chains be broken, lives be healed!

This week has brought forth every emotion in the book. There are so many things I want to write about but there are two stories that have captured my heart and have drawn me to tears this past week. Elizabeths story: During house to house visits two of my teammates and I met a woman by the name of Elizabeth. We began talking to her and found out that she stopped going to church 5 years ago due to events that happened in her life. Her countanence was downcast and despair was radiating from her soul. Her eyes were full of sorrow and would hardly make eye contact with any of us. So, we prayed...

Like A Sheep to the Slaughter

We left the comfort of Kijabe – the two hospitals, large private school, english speaking population – to live in Rare for 7 days. The people of Rare are from two tribes, the Maasi and Turkana. They both used to be nomadic herders but now the Turkana keep farms in addition to their herds. We often heard the sounds of cattle, sheep, and goats walking through our place we called home to reach the nearby stream for water. During the week that we were there we went from hut to hut in groups of 5 to 6 talking with the people there. Most of them were Christians but we were able to...

Freddie and Felix

Freddie and Felix Freddie is a 4 year old little boy who lives behind the Bishop's house. He has come to visit us everyday since we arrived. At first he came alone, sometimes rolling and running after the bicycle tire that he plays with. But lately he has had a little shadow named Felix. Felix is Freddie's 2 year old brother. At first Felix would use caution when approaching us and look at us with a questioning expression, but slowly he is warming up to us. Today he fell asleep in Melissa's arms. Freddie is a mischievous and curious little boy. He climbs walls, does cart...

We Believe

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" -Matthew 21:22 This team and the people of Kenya are belivers because physical rain has been brought by the grace of God. Last week, we stayed in a Turkana village at an AIC sponsored church. The people in Kenya are very welcoming and thier hospitality is heart-warming. Most of the week was spent doing door to door ministry from hut to hut with the ocassional visit to a primary schoool. As a team, we noticed the need for rain and it was a prayer request from many of the villagers as we went in groups from hut to...
