Salt

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer gokd for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Matthew 5:13 Salt is a major ingredient in most foods, whether baking or cookig. It gives off a flavor that is unique to itself. Salt is also essential to our body because it is needed in all neural communication within the body. Similar to the Jody, there is a range of adequate amount of salt needed in food.      In my mind, salt alone  is disgusting, but mixed with other ingredients, it is...

The time is NOW!

When I signed up for this trip I was just expecting it to be like the other mission trips I’ve been on. Hang out with people, love on people, meet the physical needs of people, and share the gospel once or twice (And when we did share the gospel I knew for sure it wouldn’t be me doing the talking, but boy was I wrong.). On the past mission trips I’ve been on and my whole life really, I have been in control of my comfort. If I don’t feel comfortable doing something, I simply don’t do it. However, on this trip I have had no choice but to surrender my desire...

An Inexpressible Joy

So the past week of ministry has been incredibly heavy but wonderful at the same time. I can really feel the Lord's hand at work. Tribes are off the agenda so we're in a routine in Kijabe. On Thursdays, we walk to "Kijabe Town" which is a 45 minute walk down the mountain. Our team partakes in door-to-door ministry there. Let me tell you about a family that has touched my heart. Two Thursdays ago, we came to a hut and the 1st thing we notice is a boy who was obviously not all there mentally. He stared at us with his mouth wide open (which is not uncommon), but this boy...

Freedom Reigns In This Place!

A lot has been happening in these last couple weeks in Kenya! 3 weeks ago we were told that 150,000+ people are affected by a drought around Mpeketoni. The crops are dead which makes it hard for people to survive and make a living. They have to ship in food from other cities, and depend on other ways to make money, and eat. We have “droughts” in America, but I have never had to depend on God for providing rain so that we can eat or survive. After hearing about the drought and how much it’s affected these people who we are ministering too, we began to pray for rain. We felt...

How to lose a life.

Step 1 : Margaret, the wife of the Pastor who is our contact here in Kenya, walks up to me one day while we were with the Maasai tribe and asks me “will you walk with me”.  This was no ordinary question. Something about the tone of her voice and the look in her eye told me that we were going to walking down more then just a dirt road in Kenya. This was true. As we walk she began to paint a picture of her vision for an orphanage that they are beginning to build for orphans that they are already supporting.  I saw my future in this place begin to unfold as God confirmed...
