NO Accident

Psalm 139:13-16 " For you created my inmost being; you knit me in my mothers womb. I praise you because i am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful, i know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when i was made in hte secret place. when i was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Just like these verses say that God knew everyday before i was even born. He knew that my team was going to be in the tribe of Tangi Tatu sharing with the...

Not Your Typical Love Story

She was eight years old when she was chosen to be the bride of a man 26 years older than her. On Sunday, it was her wedding day.             All week I had been hearing rumors about an upcoming wedding. This was exciting news, especially to the girls, since weddings are a hot topic in our group. It was exciting until we met the groom a few days before the wedding. Kenya Dig It?

So this is going to be an absurdly short blog post, but short is sweet.  Anyhow…this has been the most intense two weeks of my life, and not just because we're in tents… All expectations have been shattered and Ive been stuck scrambling to pick up the pieces.  To be honest, there has been a lot going on in the past fortnight that has genuinely defeated me.  But there was a silver lining somewhere amongst the grey clouds of my mind – I was able to teach on Wednesday! For those who may be unaware, I graduated this past May with a Bachelor's degree in...

Can you hear the prayer of the children?

The first night we arrived in Tangitatu to live with the tribe for 2 weeks, I cradled a child named Ellen in my arms and sang her my moms lullaby "Like a Ship in the Harbor".  I felt overwhelmed with love from the Lord and wanted to show it to this little girl.  I could almost her her prayer for love, attention, and comfort. The third day of ministry, I prayed over a little girl named Tiotoni, who was 5 years old but could not hear or speak.  She was so precious, so beautiful, so full of life.  I could almost hear her prayer for healing, for a voice, for...

update from Kenya

We spoke with the team leaders today and they wanted us to pass along this update on how the team is doing.  They are still in the remote village with the Masaai tribe.  They will be returning to civilization (Kijabe) on Friday and should have internet access Saturday and/or Sunday before heading out to another village on Monday.  The team has been doing a ton of door-to-door evangelism everyday.  This requires at least 10km of walking a day, so they're getting plenty of exercise.  There's been a lot of fruit in this ministry.  They're in a place...

At the Foot of the Cross

This is a poem I wrote one night when I couldn't sleep. At the request of my teammates, I'm sharing this poem/praise prayer with all of you. It is a reflection of what Jesus means to me and how I'm growing in my love of the Lord. Enjoy! At the cross I find my King, Lord of lords and everything Maker of heaven and earth, You knew my heart before my birth I must say thank you every day, For gifts You give and take away For You are big and I am small, You did it God, You made it all I come to pray at the cross, In times of joy and great loss Only in this special...
