I can do nothing without the FATHER

This blog is about the last 4 weeks. First starting in the karati tribe. We did alot of walking door to door and evangelizing. But it was all worth it God was moving and we were following were the holy spirit was going. He lead me and two other girls off the team to this Ladys house. As soon as we walked up all i could notice was the old lady siting out side by her self. A lady came out to greet us an invited us in to her house we went in and took a seat. I asked her if she would like to ask the old mom to come in and sit down with us. She...

Restoring Glory

My God is a God of restoration. He takes what's been broken and bruised and breathes new life. Think about it: Jesus took the blind, and gave them new eyes to see the beauty around them. Jesus took the deaf, and gave them new ears to hear laughter and music around them. Jesus took the lame, and gave them new legs to jump and dance. Wherever humanity was damaged, Jesus restored it. And thankfully, He's still doing it today. God has been showing me throughout this whole trip about what it means to be restored. He has taken my scarred heart and filled it with His everlasting love....

Mountaintop Declarations and the Winds of Change

There is darkness here. Everyday at the Pokot tribe, I woke up sensing the darkness all around me even when my teammates couldn't feel it. During Nikki's prayer for spiritual strength on our fourth night with the tribe, I truly felt Satan for the first time in my life. She prayed for the Holy Spirit, and I felt despair, helplessness, and above all else, FEAR. I immediately realized these feelings came from the devil and just how present he is in this place. He was angry about Nikki's prayer and our presence in the tribe because we came to bring the light of Jesus Christ. For...

My babies

At this tribe God blessed my life more than I could have every imagined… He allowed to me love on some babies and teach at a preschool. But you see this preschool was not a preschool that you would want to drop your child off at for the day…. You see these kids walked miles and miles just to get to school and on empty tummies…. They would show up and get to write on concrete walls and they had to share the same 3 pencils that were shorter than a crayon… They had no colors, no posters, no paper, just the volunteer teacher… My babies, all 40 of...

At The Very Least You’ll Be Changed

At The Very Least You'll Be Changed Blog #4 by Emily Chambers on Friday, 28 October 2011 at 15:42 Sheila Walsh, Author of "Outrageous Love" said, " The outrageous message was not, " I forgive you, so go and do whatever you want." Neither was it, "Because of how you have lived there is no forgiveness." The glorious message. God's great surprise, was that everything about us is known to Him and can be forgiven through Christ's sacrifice, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live...

Beauty for Ashes

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead or mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." Isaiah 61:1,3a Pokot was a breathtakingly beautiful tribe filled with red dirt, thorny trees, mountains, rivers, adorable camels, exotic bugs, and beautiful people.  Our ministry centered on teaching at Amaya Primary School where I taught...
