Kenya, here we come!

I’ve been at Toccoa Falls College (middle of nowhere) for the past 3 days for training camp and I couldn't ask for anything better.  My team consists of 19 girls and 4 boys.  Our team is EXTREMELY loud (so I fit right in), goofy, and so full of laughter.  I was really nervous about meeting my teammates and the awkward moments that would lie ahead as we got to know each other but I have never become so close to so many people in such a short time.  I can feel God’s presence within our team and how His love just pours out of each team member. ...

The day has begun

Hello All! So My Adventure is just beginning as we put a slow end to training camp. Although we have only been here for 3 days it feels like forever! So many things that we have done like Chapel and Awesome worship time! I realized its been almost a year since Ive had Crazy awesome singing time to God. It was very enjoyable and thats one thing I want to continue when I get back. Well, we have heard stories about the places were going, learned a little language and had an awesome cuddle party under the tarp one night. It was very exciting with the 23 of us having a sleepover but then we all...

One Word

Training camp has been awesome so far.  One word to describe this week: EXCITEMENT!  As a leader this is my second time in a training camp, and even though I'm learning a lot of the same things, I still have a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm and excitement in my bones. If life on the field in Kenya is going to be anything like training camp has been, this is going to be a season full of energy.  God has been faithfully showing up and using worship and prayer to build me up with anticipation at the amazing things He is going to do this summer. I don't know what these...

Habari!

Hello from Georgia!     First off I'd like to go ahead and apologize for any incorrect grammar or confusing sentences that are surely to follow in the next two months. As a math major I wouldn't say that writing is my best skill, that and the fact that I am constantly told that I write the way I talk. Personally, I take the latter as a compliment seeing as though it allows my readers to see who I am through my writing; my professors, however, don't always agree.      With that said, we have been at training camp for four days and I can already tell God...

Thankful

Dear God,           I want to thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be here. The opportunity for you to work in me. To show others who you are who are desperate for your love. I want to thank you for choosing me to open up to others and for myself to grow into your love as each day passes with all your blessings. I have no idea how your going to use me, but God have your way. I am so honored and humbled to be here in Africa. It's only been about a day and a half since landing here. I'm already so amazed by you. Your heart...

Sowing Season

Since January 19, I have woken up to a land that I was only acquainted with through books, photographs, television, movies, or stories told by others. I've stepped foot outside of my humble home (a two person tent), and been greeted by a haze filtered view of the Great Rift Valley, banana trees in Meru, or, perhaps the dusty, desolate terrain surrounding Tangi Tatu.   The last few months of my life have been, quite easily, the best months of my life, riddled with the most stellar and most difficult experiences I have endured. From trying, so, so hard to be patient with my...
