Africa is hope.

This first week of ministry was awesome.  It was very emotional but super encouraging.  We have been working in the schools and the little african children have stolen my heart.  They have such sweet smiles and have a irreplaceable joy.  We also had the opportunity to work in the hospital.  We went into the children’s, female, male, and surgical ward to pray over the sick and wounded.  It was very emotional because I kept wondering why God chose these people to get sick when they already have nothing. Why not me?  There was one lady that had...

Vessel of the Lord

Habari! (Thant means hello how are you) So Africa has been both thrilling and challenging. We started actual ministry last Tuesday. So to start the day we wake up at 5:30 every morning to go and pray for an hour at the church. At first it was pretty hard to do this because I’m definitely not a morning person but it has turned out to be such a blessing. Starting the day off praying and praising the Lord has become such a precious time. Later in the day we play with the kids who go to school at the church and teach them Bible lessons and songs. It’s been interesting to see our...

Being a True Man of God

Being away from home for even a couple weeks has taught me a lot about who I am. It has helped me to step into the potential God has for me. It means not staying silent when it would be easy to do so. It means following the Lord's voice no matter what. It means encouraging and building up my teammates when they feel down. Its means that God tells me who I am. It means that I dont walk in the ways of my past, but that I live in God's present glory. This past week, we as a team have done hospital ministry everyday from 4 to 6pm. We have prayed over people of all ages and all kinds of...

Just like faith without works is dead, so is love without expression.

I apologize for falling behind on my blogging duties! This blog will be about the week of the 10-16. Every morning at 5:15 am we wake up and get ready for the day. You heard me right. 5:15 AM!! We make our way on foot in the dark to the church for morning glory prayer from 6 to about 7:30 or 8. It is just like the IHOP-KC prayer room back home. They have some African worship music blaring while people from the community (and the mzungus (Swahili word for a white person)) sit, stand, and pace while they pray. The Lords presence is really evident in the mornings. I love it! After morning...

Not in a Spirit of Fear

The other night my entire bedroom was uproariously laughing at a super lame joke.  There was snorting, honking, gasping for air, and cackles.  Even in our over-tired state there was so much joy filling the room, and I was sure God was laughing with us. All of a sudden our laughter stopped and every head turned toward the window.  We heard a scary noise.  There was a bit of rustling and some heavy footsteps.  Every heart in the room started racing, eyes wide open in the dark, ears perked to hear what might happen next.  Our spirits froze. But we have not been...
