Power In The Name

I've always known that God works miracles but I never thought I would be witness to ones as tangible as what is happening here. Throughout the week we had been going to the hospital to pray and talk with the patients. On Wednesday the group that I was with was going through the men's surgical ward. At the very end of the ward we came to a room where a man was lying unconcious with his wife by his side. The wife explained to us that the man had suffered from a stroke and was now in a coma. She told us how difficult it was because she was unable to be home with her children...

My African Life

So first off, I have to say Happy Birthday to my best friend in the whole wide world. Love you Shelby!!! Also, Happy Birthday Mrs.Joyce, and Tyler at the daycare! Oh and Happy Fathers Day! Love you Daddy!! I'm gonna tell you what my days here look like. 5:20 am We rise before the sun. Then at 5:45 am, we "run" to the church. Break My Heart For What Breaks Yours.

Everyday this past week we were blessed with the opportunity to visit the local hospital here in Busia. I have prayed the past few months for God to prepare my heart for everything I may encounter while in Kenya but nothing could have prepared me for this. The nursing student inside of me immediately started pointing out everything I wanted to fix and do for the patients. Some beds had up to 4...

Not in a Spirit of Fear

The other night my entire bedroom was uproariously laughing at a super lame joke.  There was snorting, honking, gasping for air, and cackles.  Even in our over-tired state there was so much joy filling the room, and I was sure God was laughing with us. All of a sudden our laughter stopped and every head turned toward the window.  We heard a scary noise.  There was a bit of rustling and some heavy footsteps.  Every heart in the room started racing, eyes wide open in the dark, ears perked to hear what might happen next.  Our spirits froze. But we have not been...

Vessel of the Lord

Habari! (Thant means hello how are you) So Africa has been both thrilling and challenging. We started actual ministry last Tuesday. So to start the day we wake up at 5:30 every morning to go and pray for an hour at the church. At first it was pretty hard to do this because I’m definitely not a morning person but it has turned out to be such a blessing. Starting the day off praying and praising the Lord has become such a precious time. Later in the day we play with the kids who go to school at the church and teach them Bible lessons and songs. It’s been interesting to see our...
