God Speaks

The first time I heard someone tell me that God spoke to them I truly thought it was a joke. How could God speak to us? I have never witnessed God speaking through my life.UNTIL, I was reminded in a session at training camp called,“God speaking,” that he speaks to us all the time, we just need to listen!   After the session, someone came up to me to tell me “God is speaking in your life, just listen.” That was the last day of training camp. Monday night we all gathered together to worship the God we serve. As I began to cry out to the Lord, Ruthann came to me...

Finding Joy Through the Tears

After touring the little town of Kijabe we were taken to the hospital to look around. Jessica (a girl who came to Kenya last year with AIM & now is back serving in the hospital) showed us a girl that God has just put on her heart, to love & to bless. This little, precious girl’s name is Judy, she is 10. Her family abandoned her after years of isolations & she had lesions on her face. After they were removed she ended up losing her sight. AT THE AGE OF TEN.   We were actually looking at her through a window. There was someone in the room with her telling her that we...

Everything I Expected and More

I came to camp expecting to build a relationship with my teammates, grow closer to God, and to have fun.  Much to my delight this is exactly what has happened.    Since the time that we meet at the airport, my teammates and I have spent nearly every minute together laughing and getting to know each other.  It has been cool to me that although we have never meet before we have very quickly become a family.  It is only possible because of our shared love of Christ and our heart to serve the people of Kenya.  I am so excited for the months ahead as we...

“KEN YA” believe we’re going to Africa?!

When I told everyone back home in Ohio that I would be at training camp for one week in Georgia, I bet they were picturing what I had been picturing for so long. Sleeping in a nice building, eating lots of food, being clean the whole week before we left, and especially being comfortable. This week has been none of those things, but for so many reasons this week has been so much more. The Adventures in Mission's staff have trained us physically, mentally and most importantly spiritually.  God has been so evident in every moment of this week whether it was trying to sleep in the...

New places, New faces.

Training camp wasn't about comfy chairs, good food, nice sleeping quaters or cleanliness. It was about training to be physically, emotionally and spiritually ready for these next four months in Kenya. I have learned so much about who God is and what an amazing plan he has for my team and I.  One of the most memorable times of training was the first day we got to camp. After arriving and dropping off our bags at the cabin we were told to grab three items that we wanted for the rest of the night. Three items seemed like a lot, until I had to chose between my tent, sleeping pad,...
