It's been four days. Four days since I left everything I knew to be comfortable behind, and said goodbye to the people who mean the most to me in life. It's been four days and I already feel changed. God has moved so much in all of our hearts since we have been here and it's awesome because this is only just the beginning.
The other day we were given the opportunity to write down all of the things holding us back in life. However, we didn't write these distractions and burdens on paper! We wrote them on our very own logs. Yes, logs made of trees. After I had finished writing on my log, I carried it over to the field where one of our Team Kenya leaders was waiting to pray for us. After some very encouraging and powerful prayer, we were sent on a hike! Not with anyone else or with our friends, just with God and our log. Now let me tell you, in Georgia, the heat is thick and the crickets are a constant background music. With the log under my arm I felt like after this, I could accomplish anything. About half way through the hike, I looked back down the hill I had just climbed and at the beautiful scenery before me. I truly felt ready to let go of my log, and not just because it was awkward to carry. When I reached the end of the hike, I met the other Team Kenya leader and she prayed encouragement over me. After God had taken my log spiritually, I walked over to the pile and let it go physically. Training camp has been nothing less than eye opening, encouraging and full of laughter. Our team has bonded so much and we are slowly uncovering each other's quirks! It feels a lot like summer camp, only this time we wont be going home. Tomorrow we will begin the adventure of a lifetime in Kijabe, Kenya and tomorrow, we will be leaving our logs behind.
John 6:38 " For I have come down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of Him who sent me."
