Characters: Chef Lucas ( a giddy, bubbly, extremely smiley, happy man….with a high pitched voice)
Debbie (me)
Chef Lucas: "Ahhh Debbie you look so smart!!!" ( smart means pretty according to Kenyans)
Debbie: "Oh thank you Chef!" and I slowly started to walk away
Chef Lucas: " You look like a sister of Jesus Christ!!!!!!!" smiling his gap-toothed smile
Debbie: " Oh………..thanks!?" stunned and speechless
Chef Lucas: "Yes!!!! You have the face of Jesus Christ!!!!!" as he shakes the wooden spoon at me in confirmation
Debbie: still speechless
Chef Lucas: "Is it a good thing when I tell you that? Do you like what I said???"
Debbie: "Yes, Chef, yes!!! I do like it, thank you!!"
Chef Lucas: "Ooooookay, thank you!!!!" as he stares me down with his teethy, giddy smile
Debbie: awkwardly smile, then walk away
