Steven, 21, is a husband, father of 1 (almost 2), drug abuser, alcoholic, and Christ follower. His wife, Mary, is pregnant with their second child. His daughter, Gladys, is cuter than a button. Steven does not have a job or a way to provide for his family. He picks up odd jobs here and there, but none of it is sustaining.
I became acquainted with Steven and his family through our door-to-door ministry. He confessed his drug abuse and explained that he was a Christian, but didn’t fully understand having a relationship with Christ. After questions and answers, bible verses and prayer, Steven came to know the Lord. He asked us for two things: a bible and to pick Mary up for church on Sunday. Unfortunately, Mary wasn’t feeling well that following Sunday. Steven, however, did receive a Swahili bible. When we checked in with him the following week, he exclaimed that he hadn’t touched drugs or alcohol in a week. Before, he was drinking 10 times a day. He wanted us to be assured that he was not exaggerating and so this was an amazing feat only possible through God. I am so blessed to be able to witness this life change!
A few of us are hoping to go visit him today. Pray that he is still doing well and staying strong in the Lord. Pray that he is continuing to rely on God's power and not his own. Pray that he is chasing after God with all of his heart.
