A Prophesy Foretold

This trip has been taking my faith deeper than it's ever been before; deeper in worship, action, trust, communication and belief.  It's been a test of faith as I go to the hospital twice a week to pray for the sick, pleading with God to perform miracles and heal–physically and spiritually. Last Friday I had the opportunity to pray with John, a man who was having chest pains and from that lost his vision. John overheard me reading Isaiah 40:28-31 to the young man in the bed next to his, and he asked me to read it to him as well, so I did.

"The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow faint."

John spoke excellent English, but with the help of Stephen, the Pastor in charge of hospital ministry and translator, John rededicated his life to Christ. As he invited Christ to renew his life, tears were streaming down John's face. I went back on Saturday by myself to visit a few other men and again John asked me to come back to him and read more passages from the Bible. This time it was different, John could see me–an answer to prayer, God healed not only John's spiritual life but also healed his eye sight! What a mighty God we serve!

All throughout the Bible it is evident that the Almighty was at work in people's lives, the same is true for today; God is alive and well! It's not often that we get to see the same people that we prayed for at the hospital when we return later in the week, but when we do we see the handiwork of the Almighty. Healing was done and is continuing to be completed. In America, I feel as though we, including myself, have a fear of asking for a miracle because of failure and lack of belief/faith. Don't get me wrong, God will and does work regardless of our belief and trust of performing a seemingly impossible thing. Witnessing John's healing firsthand opened my eyes and took me deeper in the belief that God heals.

Our team met an awesome Kenyan of God from the church named Cornel. Cornel is the closest thing to Jesus that I have met; this man lives a selfless life and is full of joy from the Holy Spirit. Last weekend, the fact that I have diabetes came up while I was in the kitchen with him, Paige and Kim. His compassion came out as he prayed over me and my health–asking that I be healed of diabetes. That wrecked me, I believed God enough to heal John's eyes and other people's physical needs, yet never thought about asking God to heal me. I've been asking God ever since to heal me from this disease if it is His will. This Friday, Cornel pulled me aside to tell me that he had a vision that I would not only be healed of diabetes but that God  had even bigger things in store for me. Talk about mind blowing…when Cornel has visions, they come true.

As if his vision was not enough, I told my leader Sara about what Cornel said and she told me that before the trip started her and Darryl prayed over each member for what God had in store for us on this trip as well as life. Sara went on to tell me that God revealed that I would be healed of diabetes. At that point my mind was completely flabbergasted, three people received the same vision.

God is sovereign and in his timing, I believe that I will be completely healed from diabetes. There is nothing too big for my God, He rules over all! Whether the healing occurs here in Africa or twenty years down the road, The Lord will be glorified and I will be a living example that my God heals!

"If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."  Matthew 17:20b ESV
