This is the face of the child who stole my heart. It’s the face of the child who’s smile fills me with immense joy every time I see it. More so, it is the face of a child that God has used to secure my faith in Him. This faith giving face belongs to Joshua (I will not even attempt to spell his last name).
A few days after we arrived in Mpeketoni I was overcome with doubts and fears. Seriously, satan was working over time on getting me to question my identity in Christ, even to the point where I wondered if all this God stuff was just a bunch of BLAH! Let me note that this severe amount of questioning has never occurred in my life before. I have always seen myself as one with a big, secure faith. Can I blame satan though, my team and I were about to do amazing things through Christ that was going to advance God’s Kingdom!
So there I sat, staring up at the beautiful starry skies of Kenya, pleading with God for revelation to why these doubts and fears plagued my heart. I needed something to fend off satan as he picked and poked at my foundations of faith. In the midst of the confusion, one face kept popping into my mind, Joshua’s face. His big brown eyes and devastatingly cute smile started to flood my every thought. Then the calming voice of God asked me if there was a better explanation of how this smile, this face, and even this child came to be beside that He created it? Talk about a slap across the face! I didn’t even need to consider because I knew the answer. Furthermore, God said that the next time satan tries to attack the very foundations of my faith, I simply need to show Joshua’s heart melting face to satan and challenge him for a better explanation of how it came to be. Satan is screwed!
I come to you today as a Man of God who’s faith was once shaken, but now is as stable as ever!
