Steven Katana: Profile of a Superhero

Hey y'all! Ashley from my team wrote a sweet blog about an experience we had with a man named Steven Katana.  I will share from my perspective: It was very hot.  We walked for twenty minutes.  We showed up at a man's house.  I was half asleep to be honest, and pretty exhausted. Kolby shared for about twenty minutes with the man, Steven Katana.  Ashley, Kolby, Sam B and I met his whole family.  His little girl was very sweet, but kind of scared of me.  I sat and listened.  I didn't expect to speak, I was just going to sit back and let...

Just A Thought

The past few days have been exciting, scary, sad, crazy, and eye opening…in a sense it has been a roller coaster. God has been opening my mind to the fact that He actually, truly, with all of His being, loves me.  The God that pulled THE Genesis 1, who created man from dirt, who reigns in Heaven, who DIED for my sins, loves me with everything He has (which is a whole lot).         I have been listening to a bunch of different sermons on my leader’s iPod about the revelation of why God created man in...

A Faith Shaken

This is the face of the child who stole my heart. It’s the face of the child who’s smile fills me with immense joy every time I see it. More so, it is the face of a child that God has used to secure my faith in Him. This faith giving face belongs to Joshua (I will not even attempt to spell his last name).                                           A few days after we arrived in Mpeketoni I was overcome with doubts and fears. Seriously, satan was working over time...

The Shadow

When listening to a Bill Johnson sermon (Challenge of Promotion), there was a certain part that just   grabbed at my heart and Spirit.   Here it goes . . . Acts 5:15 “As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.”   Now at this time in Acts, the church has gone through hardships and persecution for at least a couple years.  The church needs opposition because it is through that opposition that promotion comes.  And how we...

Prayer works, y’all!!!

We have been in Mpekatoni for a few days now. Our days have been filled with ministry ranging from door to door evangelism, hospital visits, bible studies, sweeping dirt, cooking, loving on children, loving each other, and more. 3:30 AM comes early when the roosters are crowing. 8:30 PM comes late when we are all exhausted right after dinner. The heat and the humidity are not our friends. There are so many instances that could allow us to complain and pout. But, my family is not made up of just ordinary people. My family is strong and willing. When...

Understanding God’s Expectations

So it has been a while since the last time I blogged and I have so many stories to tell. We arrived in Mpeketonion Sunday after a 12 hour bus ride. The bus was so interesting and something I had never experienced until this trip. After arriving in Mpeketoni, we met Bishop and moved our things into the home in which we are staying. The people here are so nice and we even have flushable squatty potties and showers (we get to take one everyday.) Beginning our ministry in Mpeketoni, we started with door to door evangelism. It was so nice to work with my team mates in spreading the word of...
