A Million Pieces

While in the village this week we visited a primary school and got the chance to play with around 600 children. One little girl, Mary, would not leave my side. She wrote her name on my hand before we left and told me she would be praying for me as I continue going to college. Two days later my team was visiting our African grandmother's house (another story) and Mary walked up to us. How she found us I have no idea, but after sharing tea with this elderly woman Mary proceeded to walk back with us to the church where we had been staying. We are…Conquerors!!

Hey everyone! Our trip just arrived in Kenya last night! Before we left America we had a 4 day training camp in Tennessee. Training camp was like a retreat or Christian conference except you know that you will be living with the people there for the next two months! There was a total of 215 of us at camp going leaving to go to countries all  over the world. There are 15 people on our trip to Kijabe. Adventures in Missions (AIM) places a huge enphasis on community so by the end of training camp we all felt like family. We opened up to each other on our team about past hurts and that was...

Kenya, We Are HERE!

My team and I are finally in the place that we have been looking forwards to for months! Training camp created an experience that both strengthened our team, and strengenthed each of our dependence on our Lord. Personally, I have already come so far from where I began, and I am so excited to see where the Lord plans to take us on our journey. It is so beautiful here, so bright, and so full of culture. I can already see the beauty that the Lord delites in through His creation. The family that is hosting us, Pastor Simon and his wife Margaret, are so sweet and have already exceeded our...

Expectations are Already Blown

In less than 5 days, team Kijabe has already become a family. Honestly, I was a little nervous to meet my team since we had yet to meet until trainning camp. Now Though, I realize how silly it was to worry about something that is so competly in God's hands even if it is just our natural human instinct. Simon and Margret our Kijabe contacts are the best! Here I am thinking that by comming to kenya sleeping on the ground in a tent and going to have to use a squatty potty all the time. That is so not true at all at least for while we reside in Kijabe. They have managed to set up dormatory...

Comida de Kenya

If you have ever been in a foreign country for a long period of time, especially one in the third world, and even more in Africa, then you will understand what I will be talking about in this blog!!  Food is what you miss the most while being gone.  I have never gotten an amazing cheeseburger like we have in America- oh I have tried and have gotten some pretty gross results.  While we were in Nairobi I actually found one that was not too bad but nothing to write home about:)  So since being here in Busia, we have tried to make some things that you find...
