A simple prayer for the sweetest girl

May the angels protect you; Trouble neglect you; And heaven accept you when it's time to go home. May you always have plenty; Your glass never empty; And know if your belly, you're never alone. May your tears come from laughing; Find friends worth having; With every year passing they'll mean more than gold. May you win but stay humble; Smile more than grumble; And know when you stumble, you're never alone. Never alone, never alone! I'll be in every beat of your heart when you face the unknown. Wherever you fly, this isn't goodbye. My love will follow you, Stay with...

Sermon on the Mound

It was my first day of door to door ministry. The previous day most everyone else had gone out, but some of us stayed back after we donated blood at the district hospital because we were last and therefore running late.  Small evangelism teams had already formed, and relationships made with a few of the people within the community Matias (forgive my spelling). So I was the weakest link. Next thing I know, Pastor Chris had claimed me as his evangelism partner to go out and make "converts". I had the bad kind of butterflies in my stomach and I asked The Lord to give me peace...

Nice To Meet You…Again.

So I know what you’re thinking to yourself – “Self, the only blogs that Paige posts are about children she has fallen in love with.”  Well, I’m not here to prove you wrong.  While in Busia, our team has had the incredible opportunity to work with Compassion International, an organization that serves to sponsor deserving children in countries around the world.  One of the many centers in Kenya is located at Deliverance Church, where 200 children gather every Saturday to learn about Jesus, have a meal, do a craft, and play.  Disclaimer: ...

It’s a Small World After All

For me to attempt to narrow everything down that has happened this past week would be nearly impossible, so I am going to share a couple of events that have shown me more of who Jesus is than I can tell you, but I am going to do my best to try. One of the ministries we are involved here in Busia, Kenya is going to the district hospital and praying over the people there who are sick, having surgeries, giving birth to African babies who have white skin when they are born (that really threw us off), and needing encouragement. I have learned to really look forward to going to the hospital every...

A Prophesy Foretold

This trip has been taking my faith deeper than it's ever been before; deeper in worship, action, trust, communication and belief.  It's been a test of faith as I go to the hospital twice a week to pray for the sick, pleading with God to perform miracles and heal–physically and spiritually. Last Friday I had the opportunity to pray with John, a man who was having chest pains and from that lost his vision. John overheard me reading Isaiah 40:28-31 to the young man in the bed next to his, and he asked me to read it to him as well, so I did. ...

Classroom Confusion turns Theater Production

It all began when I asked to help teach a Sunday school class with my fellow teammates. It was Saturday, and we were trying to figure out what to teach. I immediately suggested Jonah and the Big Fish (the Bible does not say technically say whale, as a side note) because it’s one of my favorite stories in the Bible (spoiler alert: I LOVE improvisation). The following morning, when we were waiting in our shack of a Sunday school classroom held together by wire and tin, we only had six kids show up. The other class however had probably 60 kids. So, we decided to combine our classrooms...
