This is what I get for thinking

"Everything happens for a reason" is a saying I've heard but never really felt, or even thought much about. Until now. We've spent the past two weeks in Karati with the Kikuyu tribe. The first week was rough and I was questioning what we were doing and if we were really making a difference. I kept letting little things get to me and was stuck in the repetitiveness of the door to door ministry we were doing. Everything started looking worse when I learned that our teammate Ryan was going home. Thats when I started thinking about everything happening for a reason, though. I...

What Are You Doing Tomorrow?

1 month ago I stepped off the airplane into the unknown of this 3 month journey in Kenya. I had a vague idea of the ministry we would be doing, but had no idea that we would be visiting 3 different tribes in a course of 6 weeks. Over the past few days I've definitely learned not to make any plans. They say to expect the unexpected, but I say don't expect anything at all. And if you don't expect anything, you'll always be pleasantly surprised. The Lord has filled me with an unexplainable joy and I've yet to be let down. It's true that sometimes we have no idea where...

Elizabeth x 3

I think that God has a thing with the name Elizabeth because all of the Elizabeths I have met through our door to door experiences have been glowing with Gods love. The first Elizabeth I met was at Tangi Tatu, we came accross her plowing her songs bean field. She looked to be around 85. WE learned that her husband and son had died in the Election riots a few years back, and her other children rarely visited. The mere gact that people were even talking to her brought a smile to her face. Tears ran down as she explained she rarely got visitors, let alone white ones! We all laid hands on her...

Jambo from Kenya!!

Jambo (hello) everyone!!! Gosh, I don't even know where to begin with this blog.. so much has been happening here in Kenya, I wish I could explain everything! Our first two weeks here in Kenya have been amazingly good, difficult, and overall a huge growing experience. As a team, we've had to let go of expectations, and learn to adapt to a whole new way of life. During these past couple of weeks, my team and I stayed at a tribe called Tangi Tatu. During our stay, we walked for miles a day doing door-to-door ministry. The people are all so hospitable and welcoming. They would invite...

My Voice :)

For the first time in my life I am surrounded by "strangers"… People that know nothing about me, and for the first time I am having to let strangers in and tell them who I am.     For the first time in my life I'm realizing that I don't know who, Breanne is. My whole life I have defined my self as something … Overweight, people pleaser, approval getter, under achiever, worthless ….. All things God dose NOT say  I am!    For the first time my mom is no here to...

Straight up Miracle!!!

Miracle. Straight up 2011 miracle. As we were having family time one night one of the little boys came into the church and was just sitting with us. He didn't say anything he just wanted to sit with us! He was the only one in there and my heart just wanted to feed him, I wanted to fill his belly with more than just corn. ( These kids are SO hungry here,ps.) I was in tears as I was watching him just be in the moment with us, and I cried out to me team that I wanted to feed him…. But you see that is not fair for me to just feed him, for then all 30 kids from the tribe would just...
