At The Very Least You’ll Be Changed

At The Very Least You'll Be Changed Blog #4 by Emily Chambers on Friday, 28 October 2011 at 15:42 Sheila Walsh, Author of "Outrageous Love" said, " The outrageous message was not, " I forgive you, so go and do whatever you want." Neither was it, "Because of how you have lived there is no forgiveness." The glorious message. God's great surprise, was that everything about us is known to Him and can be forgiven through Christ's sacrifice, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live...

Restoring Glory

My God is a God of restoration. He takes what's been broken and bruised and breathes new life. Think about it: Jesus took the blind, and gave them new eyes to see the beauty around them. Jesus took the deaf, and gave them new ears to hear laughter and music around them. Jesus took the lame, and gave them new legs to jump and dance. Wherever humanity was damaged, Jesus restored it. And thankfully, He's still doing it today. God has been showing me throughout this whole trip about what it means to be restored. He has taken my scarred heart and filled it with His everlasting love....

Mountaintop Declarations and the Winds of Change

There is darkness here. Everyday at the Pokot tribe, I woke up sensing the darkness all around me even when my teammates couldn't feel it. During Nikki's prayer for spiritual strength on our fourth night with the tribe, I truly felt Satan for the first time in my life. She prayed for the Holy Spirit, and I felt despair, helplessness, and above all else, FEAR. I immediately realized these feelings came from the devil and just how present he is in this place. Our team set out for our third and last tribe last week. After a 12 hour travel day, we arrived at the Pokot tribe. Pastor Musa greated us in the wee hours of the night. He informed us that we would be doing some door to door ministry, but mostly we would be working in the schools. This made me really excited! I volunteered to teach the pre-school class, along with my team mate Breanne. We arrived and were instantly surrounded with about 40 kids, ranging from ages 2-6 years old. Most wearing rags as they walked to school bare-footed, many carrying their siblings on their back. The volunteer...

Take My Pain and Carry Me Home

My team has been having incredible experiences in ministry thus far, but I seemed to be missing out on all of them. Reading my Bible one morning, I came across Matthew 17:14-22, which tells of Jesus healing a demon possessed boy because the disciples could not drive it out. When the disciples asked why they could not heal the boy, Jesus replied, “'Because you have so little faith.'” This story made me realize that I hadn't been in the groups when the life-changing events happened because I had so little faith in God's miracles on earth today. So, why would God...
