No Words

Sometimes I don’t have the words to express how God has changed me. Sometimes I don’t have the words to explain what I have seen. Sometimes I don’t have the depth to tell you all that God has done in the lives of the people we were around. So all I can do… is pray. As you read my prayer, make it your prayer as well and let us lift up the people of the Pokat tribe and the Amaya village together.    Dear Precious Jesus, Oh Lord, as I write and pray, so many images of the past two weeks flood my mind. I see the house we called home for two weeks. I...

Babies Carrying Babies

Female Mutilation. Hearing those two words for the first time while we were in the Pokot tribe made my stomach turn. Female mutilation is something that I had heard a little bit about while I was in America, but in the Pokot tribe I sat with and listened to the stories of young girls who had gone through this grotesque process.  I want to share with you the story of my new friend, Chiptuta, because her life represents so many of the untold stories of the girls in the Pokot tribe. Chiptuta is a 14 year old young woman and she's always bubbling with the most beautiful laughter....

Call Me Crazy…Please!

Please call me crazy, because I am crazy!  I am crazy in love with a God that is crazy about me!  I know that the things I do, do not make sense to the world that is why I love it when people look at me like I am crazy.      I mean does it make any sense to want to live in a tent for weeks at a time when I could have a comfy bed?  Does it make sense to want to live in a country where I don't understand the language or customs?  Does it make sense to want to be in the bush of Kenya without running water and cell phone service when I...

God is good, ask my new guardian angel.

Today wasn't like any other day. For one, I'm in America. For two, I said goodbye to my big sister & hello to my new guardian angel.   Last week we were supposed to go to the bush on Friday. Turns out something had came up & Pastor told us we would be leaving in Monday. We were all okay with that, more hot showers, right?  Sunday was Allison's birthday so We celebrated it that night with intense worship. No bibles, no journals. Just hungry hearts waiting to hear from God. Ruthann had a word from The Lord she wanted to share with me, so she began praying...

A Tiny Piece

Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."    Sometimes the things God does just simply do not make sense.  It is hard to see the purpose behind everything, but I realize that I see such a small picture compared to the Lord.  God sees the big picture.  I am just a tiny piece in His puzzle.  I do not always thank that God has put me in the right...

Love Through the Dirt

The other day ,while we were in the Masaaii tribe, a few of us girls on the team were reading, talking and journaling when a little African girl, from the tribe, came and sat down next to us. She was so willing to watch us, listen to us, smile with us, and just do whatever we were doing. We could tell that she wanted to be like us, she wanted to go where we were going and she trusted everything we told her. I couldn't help but look at the pure adoration, trust, obedience and love she had for us and beg God for that kind of love. Her child-like love and faith was both so innocent and...
