Alice

Jambo from Kenya! I can’t believe that I am finally here! Can we just say that Africa is real cold right now. I couldn’t believe it! But anyways, I have waited for this since May and for it to have finally arrived it seems so surreal. When we got to our home in Kijabe I immediately felt a sense of peace. It didn’t take too long before we were told that we were headed out to the bush for the week. (the bush is like the country, pretty much the middle of no where with not much civilization around for miles.) I was nervous to leave so soon because we had just arrived and I...

Crazy Love

Hello Everyone!!             It’s so great to be back in Kijabe after a week out in the bush. A few fun things I have learned so far in Africa: 1. I have mastered the art of the squatie pottie. Yes, there is a technique, and I’m so thankful for all those years of camping as a child where I practiced the pop-and-squat method (I’d like to take a moment to thank my Mom and Dad) 2.  Not everywhere in the world is as big on personal hygiene as America, and you pretty much learn to get over that fast....

Breathing FREEDOM.

All sorts of walls we thought we couldn’t move came crashing down.  A lot of intense things have been happening here at AIM Training Camp.  It is so sweet to see how God is breaking each of us.  I never even thought how many things were holding me back until God unleashed me and made me realize I was free! Free from pain. Free from shame. Free from every single thing that was keeping me back. I think every single participant here has gone through the same feelings this week.   One major story that really shook me was during a worship session.(Ps....

Fried Oreos and Yellow Slides

Break my heart for what breaks Yours.  This has been a phrase that has bombarded my every thought, prayer, and even found its way onto my funraising t-shirts. However, it has gained a new meaning to me in the past few days while I’ve been in Gainsville, GA for training camp before we leave for Kenya. I’ve actually been prompted to act on this plea. I can’t tell you how uncomfortable and just plain weird the past four days have been, but I wouldn’t change them for the world. So far on this journey I have found my way through Atlanta to a random address with all...

What I have learned from my past two trips…

Ok, so I am not the best at keeping up with this blog and for that I apologize to all of you. I am (and I know Hannah is as well) to meet all of you and serve along side of you in Kenya. I know its going to be absolutely amazing!  This is my third trip with Real Life and ironically, it is the third trip I have lead this year. I say this because I have learned a few things that you may want to get or take note on before you head down in five days. **Last Minute items** —Electrolyte drinks packets. You know like Crystal Lite, Gaterade, or Hawaiian Punch. These are great for...

A smidgen of life.

Hello! If you do not already know, my name is Gregg  Stearns. I am the one on the right in the picture above. My sister Deanna would be the one on the left.      God is beautiful. I am extremely excited about our trip to Kenya. It is so insane that we leave in 5 days. I am so excited to meet my team and all the beautiful people in Kenya. I pray that God will use us to love, help, and change His Kingdom. I trust Him will all my heart that He will give us the strength and courage to overcome our boundaries. If we let Him, He will stretch...
