He broke me.

Coming on this trip I had no idea what I had gotten myself into, but after training camp, I knew that I had signed up for an amazing adventure with some amazing people. This past week we did a time of worship every night and then someone would share something. Let me just tell you, that only worked two times! God showed up!!! Saturday night I was supposed to share my testimony but that never happened. Hannah and Nick decided that it would be a good time for all 9 of us to get in a circle and have everyone pray and speak life over each other. God once again showed up and it was just an...

It’s Confirmed…God’s a Gator!!

Week #1 Blog entry: This is the blog I intended to post after our first week in Kenya….unfortunately our internet was not as easily available as we had first thought…so…HERE IT GOES!! We arrived in Kenya safely last week. The best thing I could’ve ever done was to release any of the expectations I had when entering the beautiful country of Kenya. Since we’ve been here, we spend several days in Kijabe with our host family, Pastor Simon and his wife Margaret and their awesome niece Vicki! Then we were whisked away  several hours out to the middle of...

Lies

Hello from Kenya! We just spent an entire week with the Turkana tribe.  Everyday we did evangelizing with our translators Peter (27), Samuel (26), and Simon (24) (Simon and Peter are brothers.  I would put I picture up of them but I don’t think I will be able to.)  The area is heavily plagued with alcoholism, drugs, and prostitution.  All are so present mainly because there is a rock quarry near, where many of the men work.  The job is so demanding (most is done by hand) that the men feel that they must either be drunk or high, or have some type of pleasure to...

Something Beautiful

Hello friends! I don’t know if you knew this but…. I’m in Kenya. I’m sorry its taken such a long time for me to update. As you have read from some of the other blogs TIA is an abbreviation we live by here. Yes, This Is Africa. Internet is hard to come by and so are showers. But, I am having such an amazing time and wouldn’t change a thing! As soon as we got to Kijabe we were informed that we would be spending the next two weeks visiting the Massai and Turkana tribes. We would have one day to rest and then it was off into the African bush to live with each of...

Valley of Dry Bones

Hello thy good and faithful, I mean patient readers. We are back in Kijabe!! These past couple weeks have been life changing, and also full of so many things to process! I am still processing things from the Massai Tribe! Bare with me, I’ve got a lot to say today. Last Friday we packed up our van once again and headed down into the Great Rift Valley to live with the Turkana Tribe. On our way down I felt very uncomfortable and sick to my stomach. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on until later when Hannah had asked if anyone had a weird feeling because she had one...

Masaai land

This past week we went out to a Masaai tribe in an area called Tangi-tatu. We lived in tents inside of the local church, with a squatty potty near by. The days were really long, but encouraging. There were no showers, and my clothes have gotten pretty dirty, but everyone else smells so it doesn’t matter. It was hard to stay motivated the last couple of days, but the people were a huge inspiration. Most of the days we did hut to hut evangelism in the mornings. I was expecting to come into an environment devoid of faith, however I found disciples of Christ at nearly ever home...
