Peace Like a River

So . . .         About these past few days in Kenya at our ministry site . . .                            Have been nothing like I was expecting (darn those expectations Jimmy!). After our 12 hour bus ride to our ministry site, and within 2 hours one of our girls started having a health issue that turned into a spiritual attack.  God gave Michael and I the wisdom needed to bring Truth and Light into this situation (and don’t worry- that girl is just fine!).  And then not...

My New Home

So I find myself standing in the airport in Nairobi , Kenya and the reality that I will be spending 4 months in that country didnt hit me yet. Around 20 hours of flying is never fun and I never felt happier to be standing in a long line waiting to get my visa. I stretched my legs and twisted my ankles and I knew something was wrong. My skin felt so tight around my ankles and I looked down at my feet to see that I had the fattest cankles ever. Seriously there were rolls of puffy skin taking over my ankles. I freaked out! All I could say was "oh no no no why is this happening??"...

Christmas Time!

Today I listened to Christmas music. Not by choice of course, because it’s the end of January, and that would just be absurd, but because this precious little boy knew the words to Christmas songs. His name is Eugene, and he is one of the smartest 9 year old I think I’ve ever met. So while watching him mouth the words to the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” I had this epiphany. It really had nothing to do with Eugene, or Christmas songs, or anything in particular, it was just really everything was setting in. How simplistic things are here. People are caught up...

Me . . Really?

I never in a million years would have imagined myself as a leader, and yet here I am leading 12 people in Kenya for 4 months J I can still remember when God first called me to lead a Real Life trip and my response- silence and doing a double take.  Even though I ever imagined myself as a leader, God did and I am so blessed to be here and be leading these kids. God does know me so much better than I know myself and is showing me more and more of who He created me to be! Even though quiet- filled with so much fierceness, boldness, and strength! I am so happy I...

We are more than just friendly travelers

We haven't even left the states, yet this time has already been quite an adventure. I am amazed at how quickly our team became a family. Our team comes from all different backgrounds and worship in all different ways. But, none of that matters in the presence of the Lord. 12 students and 2 leaders. 14 souls that have already began to expeirence the Lord in a whole new way! 14 souls that love each other. 14 souls that are changing the world. Last night, worship was lead by the Holy Spirit. His presence was undeniable! Following worship and speaking, we learned about prophecy. Prophecy...
