The Power of God

Yes!! We made it to Kijabe!! I can’t express in words how God is forming me into the man I need to be. I was humbled on our way into Kijabe looking at the mountains and valleys He created. The country is so amazing. Kijabe is located on the side of a mountain so its pretty interesting getting in and out of it. When we travel we are usually praying that the van either has breaks or enough power to get up the mountain. Haha!!

We are staying with Pastor Simon and his wife Margrette. They are so nice and taking good care of us. We are sleeping in the church that Pastor Simon preaches at which is a blessing because it has toilets and showers if the electricity is working. The first couple days we were just trying to get into the swing of things. We still had jet leg from the ride in. Pastor gave us a tour of Kijabe the second day. It is a really safe place and the people are really nice. The third day we went to the school to introduce ourselves to the kids. We sang songs to eachother and played alot of games. They were really happy to see us. (I will tell you more about Kijabe in my next blog).

Pastor decided to throw us into the bush right away. We spent the last 5 days with the Maasai Tribe in Rift Valley. Talk about an experiencel. We stayed in a village that was owned by a christain man named Amos. Amos is one of the nicest men i’ve ever met. He came to Christ when missionaries came to the Maasai Tribe many years back and now he is going to school to be a pastor ( The Power of God). When we arrived everyone was kinda freaked out and didn’t know what to expect. Haha! They welcomed us by walking a couple miles where they have a bible devotion. They showed us how they worshiped and said we can join if we want  so I decided to do it. They threw me in the middle of the circle and I had to jump as high as I could. All the women from the tribe was laughing at me for some reason. Haha! The pastor there asked me to give my testimony and talk about a bible verse that I liked to them. It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit can put words into your mouth. The days there usually consists of  waking up at about 7:30 and eat. We then would do a morning devotional and then went out and shared the word of God to other villages.  When we went to the villages the people were usually excited to see us. Sometimes they would let us into their homes but most of the time they were out watching the sheep or cattle so we would just preach to them there. After talking with them we would ask them what we could pray for and every group got RAIN (they haven’t had rain there for 2 months).  At about 1 we would go back to Amos’ village and eat and they would have something different for us to do. We got to go to a school which was amazing. To welcome us they had about 100 kids packed into one room screaming at the top of their lungs with joy. We got to play soccer and they gave me the nickname Rooney, not because I was good at soccer of course but because I loooked like a proffesional soccer player. At night we would sit around a campfire and because we were so tired we would go to bed at about 10:00. We never got a goodnight sleep because they had watch dogs and they would chase hienas away from us and cattle all night long.

Staying at the Maasai Tribe was a big eye opener. I have lots of stories from it that broke my heart and some that just made me smile with joy.

Fun facts:
Saw my first Giraffe
Slepped in a hut for two nights
Beat a Kenyan in a race

Thank you all for commenting on my blog its great to hear from you.  God Bless

Oh!! By the way. It rained 4 out of the 5 days we were there. (THE POWER OF GOD). God showed the Maasai that He heard our prayers.
