Masaai land

This past week we went out to a Masaai tribe in an area called Tangi-tatu. We lived in tents inside of the local church, with a squatty potty near by. The days were really long, but encouraging. There were no showers, and my clothes have gotten pretty dirty, but everyone else smells so it doesn’t matter. It was hard to stay motivated the last couple of days, but the people were a huge inspiration.

Most of the days we did hut to hut evangelism in the mornings. I was expecting to come into an environment devoid of faith, however I found disciples of Christ at nearly ever home I visited. These people are so generous, we were almost always offered chai at the houses. One day I had to drink five cups, which was a little much. Although these people live in houses that are not even the size of my bedroom they  have a joy and hope that is rarely found in America. We would try to encourage the people through Bible verses and prayer, but it was their faith that lifted me up. Their faith in God and His redemptive love is undaunted by the hardships they encounter everyday.

We are going out to another tribe for the next five days, hopefully we will have a lot more stories next time.
