Jambo from Kenya!!

Jambo (hello) everyone!!!

Gosh, I don't even know where to begin with this blog.. so much has been happening here in Kenya, I wish I could explain everything! Our first two weeks here in Kenya have been amazingly good, difficult, and overall a huge growing experience. As a team, we've had to let go of expectations, and learn to adapt to a whole new way of life.

During these past couple of weeks, my team and I stayed at a tribe called Tangi Tatu. During our stay, we walked for miles a day doing door-to-door ministry. The people are all so hospitable and welcoming. They would invite us into their tiny mud huts, make us chai tea and corn, and then open up about their struggles and way of life. God moved in their hearts, and 17 people came to know Him!

After ministering by foot for the first half of the day, we'd head over to one of the local primary schools to sing, give testimonies, tell them about Jesus, and just spend time with the kids playing volleyball or soccer. It's been a really funny experiece for me to watch the kids' faces when they first realize that I don't have toes on one foot 🙂 I usually end up with a swarm of kids surrounding me and stretching just to catch a glimpse of Nubby 🙂

A few things to mention about life in Kenya…
1) Get used to walking… everywhere.
2) Peeing in a dirt hole is the norm… bring lots of toilet paper and hand sanitizer!
3) It's extremely hot during the day, and freezing at night
4) Africans can (and do!) dance for hours on end
5) Donkeys, cows and goats are seen wherever you go, watch where you step!

Along with these few things that I've had to get used to, I've had to adapt to a lot spiritually. I've learned a lot in these past two weeks about giving up control and relying fully on God. Jesus is continuing to remove spiritual "blinders" that keep me from seeing and hearing Him clearly. God has been showing me that He is not demanding or expecting me to do everything perfectly. His grace covers that. With that said, He knows and wants what's best for me. I need to trust Him and take leaps of faith when He calls me to. I'm still learning how to walk in His authority and confidence- it's a lot harder than I thought it would be! Overall, God has been doing a lot of renovations in my heart- clearing out the gunk and replacing it with His forgiveness, joy and love. I'm ready for more!

 When man obeys, God acts;
 When God acts, men change. "

I love and miss you all soo much!! 🙂 <3
