I now live on Extraordinary Lane

There are days where I sit and wonder what I am doing with my life. Seriously, who in their right mind takes a trip to Kenya , raises over $6,000, leaves college, misses the birth of her first nephew, leaves every person she has ever loved, spends four months in a third-world country with 13 strangers, spends way too much money on other people, says that God told her to do it, and, to top it off, decides to move there? Who does that?!

It all started with a woman who didn’t take no for an answer. She is someone that I admire and respect. She pushes me to extremes that I never thought I would encounter. She pushed me to travel across the world to see and experience something bigger than myself. She helped me smash the box that I had put God in. Well, I can tell you now that God couldn’t fit back in that box even if I wanted Him to. There is no way to ignore the ineffable things that He has done in me, to me, and through me.

Thus far, my view of God has magnified X10,000 at least. My view of myself has been expanded, as well. I have always heard rumors of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I never fathomed that I would be one of them. But, at this very moment I am out of breath from running down Extraordinary Lane. This is a long road, a lifelong road. There will be days where the route doesn’t seem so extraordinary and Ordinary Street looks appealing. There will be days where taking a short-cut through the Easy Way Out forest will taunt me. But, when those days come, I will remember Samuel, a 20 yr old newborn into the family of Christ, Jonah, a father who longs to provide for his daughter and pregnant wife, but puts God first, Simon, an orphan who loves to be in front of the camera, and Bishop Busuru, a man who does nothing apart from God. On those days, I will stop and rest; I will be still before the Lord. But, I will not stray from Extraordinary Lane.
