After being in Kenya a little over a week the team has experienced one of the most amazing opportunities. We have blessed enough to live in the Maasai tribe. They are alot like what you read in books; bright colored clothing, lots of jewelry, and very good at jumping. The Maasai tribe are also very committed to their relationship with God. They spend lots of time singing and dancing for the Lord. During our stay in the Rift Valley with the Maasai Tribe, we visited a Primary school. The students were so excited to see us and cheered with all they had when our team walked in to greet them at their school. After singing a few songs with then and two of our teammate shared their story of salvation we headed outside to play games.
I met one girl around 13 or 14 named Susan. She was so excited to meet me and wanted to know all about my life in America. I would share with Susan about my family; my parents and two older brothers. Susan would clasp her hand together and rest her chin on them as she responded, “BEAUTIFUL!” I told her about the friends the Lord had blessed me with. Susan would respond with a big smile and “BEAUTIFUL”. When I told her that my favorite meal was grilled cheese and tomato soups, she thought that was just a beautiful.
Susan took me aside and held my had. She asked me if we were. “Good friends yet?” After I gave her a big hug and told her that we had indeed become good friends; she ran into her class room to get something for me. She grabbed my wrist and put her bracelet on me.
The kindness and love that this young Maasai child showed me reminded me of just how beautiful life is. God has blessed me with so much and every new adventure I embark on reminds me of his grace and goodness. I am reminded that I am not to hold on to the love and blessing I have been gifted with, but to share them with everyone I can.
Pray for Susan; that she can be disciples into a young woman of God. That God would show her how her tender heart is a gift. Pray that Susan would know how Beautiful God has made her.
Grow in Grace,
