a little update

I just spoke with Pastor Simon, our host in Kenya, and the team is doing really well.  Unfortunately they haven’t had internet yet, thus no blogs have been posted.  Upon arrival into Kijabe they went immediately out to do ministry in the bush, with the Masaai tribe for a week.  They’re diving right in and getting a quick immersion into Kenyan culture!  Pastor Simon said that things are going really well and that the team is even able to follow up with some of the relationships that past Real Life teams built.  We look forward to when they’re able...

arrived in Kenya

Hello family and friends of Team Kenya.  We just wanted to let you know that we received a call from the leaders and the team has made it safely to Kenya.  They are with their host in Kijabe and all is well. We look forward to hearing from them in a few days once they get settled in.  Thank you for your prayers and support for them.

First impressions

Hello, We finally leave tomorrow for africa, which is pretty exciting, but i’ll give a quick recap of what has happened so far. We arrived in Atlanta and almost immediately went out onto the streets to just be with the homeless people. Breathing FREEDOM.

All sorts of walls we thought we couldn’t move came crashing down.  A lot of intense things have been happening here at AIM Training Camp.  It is so sweet to see how God is breaking each of us.  I never even thought how many things were holding me back until God unleashed me and made me realize I was free! Free from pain. Free from shame. Free from every single thing that was keeping me back. I think every single participant here has gone through the same feelings this week.   One major story that really shook me was during a worship session.(Ps....

Fried Oreos and Yellow Slides

Break my heart for what breaks Yours.  This has been a phrase that has bombarded my every thought, prayer, and even found its way onto my funraising t-shirts. However, it has gained a new meaning to me in the past few days while I’ve been in Gainsville, GA for training camp before we leave for Kenya. I’ve actually been prompted to act on this plea. I can’t tell you how uncomfortable and just plain weird the past four days have been, but I wouldn’t change them for the world. So far on this journey I have found my way through Atlanta to a random address with all...

My First Adventure

My first couple days of training camp have been full of many new experiences. From rolling my two suitcases down the streets of Atlanta, to being spit in the face by the “natives” we were attempting to evangelize to, its been real fun to say the least.  One of our first true tasks at training camp though was to go out and evangelize to people on the streets. It was really the first challenge we had to start stepping out of our boxes and doing things most of our group had never done before.  We were split up into small groups and eventually given a dollar that we...
