A Million Pieces

While in the village this week we visited a primary school and got the chance to play with around 600 children. One little girl, Mary, would not leave my side. She wrote her name on my hand before we left and told me she would be praying for me as I continue going to college. Two days later my team was visiting our African grandmother's house (another story) and Mary walked up to us. How she found us I have no idea, but after sharing tea with this elderly woman Mary proceeded to walk back with us to the church where we had been staying. As we walked the two of us began sharing our lives...

Freddie and Felix

Freddie and Felix Freddie is a 4 year old little boy who lives behind the Bishop's house. He has come to visit us everyday since we arrived. At first he came alone, sometimes rolling and running after the bicycle tire that he plays with. But lately he has had a little shadow named Felix. Felix is Freddie's 2 year old brother. At first Felix would use caution when approaching us and look at us with a questioning expression, but slowly he is warming up to us. Today he fell asleep in Melissa's arms. Freddie is a mischievous and curious little boy. He climbs walls, does cart...

Spread the Gospel wherever you go.

I have a lot to say in a few short minutes. We've been in the Turkana village for a whole week and just returned to Kijabe yesterday. I learned a lot can happen in one week. The first two days we were there, we were made aware of how dry it was by the sound of childrens' coughs, and the dirt that would fly in our eyes with a gust of wind. From door to door ministry, we learned that it hadn't rained for 3 months. The people in the village rely heavily on crops to sell and to feed their families. No rain=no crops. The 2nd day, we fasted dinner and prayed for God's rain to...

We Believe

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" -Matthew 21:22 This team and the people of Kenya are belivers because physical rain has been brought by the grace of God. Last week, we stayed in a Turkana village at an AIC sponsored church. The people in Kenya are very welcoming and thier hospitality is heart-warming. Most of the week was spent doing door to door ministry from hut to hut with the ocassional visit to a primary schoool. As a team, we noticed the need for rain and it was a prayer request from many of the villagers as we went in groups from hut to...

The hard hearted

In our first day in the tribal area of Kenya, my ministry team met a man maned Awillow. We entered into the conversation with hopes of talking about christ with him. After maybe a minute, we learned that this man, like many others, had heard about Christ many times but was unwilling to accept his grace. Awillow spoke of something hard on his heart that was stopping him from believing. His heart was so hard that he wouldn't even let us pray for him. Well, we did anyway. We prayed immediately after we met with him and then continued to the entire week. We went and...
