What a little light can do.

“What in the world have I gotten myself into?”   We flew into Nairobi Airport at 8:00pm on August the 31st. After carrying around all of my belongings on my back around the Nairobi airport, we got loaded up into our contact's vans and headed into the unknown. After driving around in the dark for a while with hardly any lights guiding us along, we stopped at a 24 hour store. At this point, I'm not even sure what I'm even doing here. I'm sick, tired, and just want to lay down. We climb back into our vans and begin the hour and a half drive to our new home....

My days in Busia

Wow it's kind of hard to believe it has been a month and a half since I was in America. It has seemed like the days here go by so quickly yet, the weeks go by slowly, it's hard to explain but that's just African time for ya. My trip has definitely been filled with different feelings in different moments, there has been times when all I've wanted to do is go home, and then there has been times when I've never wanted to leave because this place felt like home. Busia itself is hard to explain, it's bigger than a town but no where near the size of a city, there is trash...

A simple prayer for the sweetest girl

May the angels protect you; Trouble neglect you; And heaven accept you when it's time to go home. May you always have plenty; Your glass never empty; And know if your belly, you're never alone. May your tears come from laughing; Find friends worth having; With every year passing they'll mean more than gold. May you win but stay humble; Smile more than grumble; And know when you stumble, you're never alone. Never alone, never alone! I'll be in every beat of your heart when you face the unknown. Wherever you fly, this isn't goodbye. My love will follow you, Stay with...

Sermon on the Mound

It was my first day of door to door ministry. The previous day most everyone else had gone out, but some of us stayed back after we donated blood at the district hospital because we were last and therefore running late.  Small evangelism teams had already formed, and relationships made with a few of the people within the community Matias (forgive my spelling). So I was the weakest link. Next thing I know, Pastor Chris had claimed me as his evangelism partner to go out and make "converts". I had the bad kind of butterflies in my stomach and I asked The Lord to give me peace...

Nice To Meet You…Again.

So I know what you’re thinking to yourself – “Self, the only blogs that Paige posts are about children she has fallen in love with.”  Well, I’m not here to prove you wrong.  While in Busia, our team has had the incredible opportunity to work with Compassion International, an organization that serves to sponsor deserving children in countries around the world.  One of the many centers in Kenya is located at Deliverance Church, where 200 children gather every Saturday to learn about Jesus, have a meal, do a craft, and play.  Disclaimer: ...

It’s a Small World After All

For me to attempt to narrow everything down that has happened this past week would be nearly impossible, so I am going to share a couple of events that have shown me more of who Jesus is than I can tell you, but I am going to do my best to try. One of the ministries we are involved here in Busia, Kenya is going to the district hospital and praying over the people there who are sick, having surgeries, giving birth to African babies who have white skin when they are born (that really threw us off), and needing encouragement. I have learned to really look forward to going to the hospital every...
