Africa is Insane

This past week has been so good for me. I had good Jesus time, good ministry time, and good team time! Tuesday I didn’t feel so good so I stayed back, but Wednesday I went to the deaf school and it was so good. I learned some Kenya sign language, got a sign name (letter ‘m’ by the corner of my mouth) and met an awesome girl, Anna, from North Carolina who has been working at this school for a year and a half. We didn’t do much ministry with the kids that day, but I really enjoyed talking to Anna and getting to know her. Hopefully she’ll be...

Home Is Wherever I’m With You, Jesus

Honestly, the past week or so has been about perserverance. Particluarly knowing that there is joy ahead and my faith is being purified by fire (1 Peter 1:3-12). I read again a message/email that my brother and amazing friend John sent me, about being pushed to my end, but seeking God's heavenly storehouses of energy and encouragement. I am learning more and more from experience that growing in relationship and intimacy with God not an easy process. Like I said, purification by fire. This was DEAFinitely a good week.

So before I came on this trip, I've been feeling like God is calling me to Deaf Missions but I did NOT want that to be my focus while I was here in Kenya. The Lord knows that it is a huge desire in my heart and I figured that I would not place any expectations on my trip or ministry here so that God could use me to His fullest. If He wanted to do something here, He would. About 2 weeks ago, I was walking home from the church with Kelsey and Morgan and all of the sudden, one of them said "Kim, these girls are signing!!" So I instantly got excited. Before this trip, I had...

“And above all things, have fervent love for one another…”

Hi friends! I am still behind on my blogging so this blog will be for the week of the 17-21st of July. Everyday we have a morning ministry and an evening ministry. During this week, our evening ministry was the crusade. Around 4 o'clock everyday we would go to the next town over and we would hold a revival on a little stage in the middle of a field. We sing some African songs and worship for awhile then we would all sit down and listen to a preacher preach a message in swahili without an interpretter. After the message there is an altar call and people go up for prayer. So many people...

“I will not leave you…”

Street Kids– filthy, commonly inappropriate, uncontrolled, shoeless, abandoned, homeless and hungry boys who lives on the streets in Busia, Kenya. They have no place to call home and nothing more than the clothes on their back.           Believe it or not, our ministry with these kids is spent playing soccer in large local fields. We divide up into teams (commonly Americans vs. Kenyans) and just go for it. And man, do we have some fun! For about two hours, these boys can be just what they are supposed to be… little boys!...
