Joy to the World

After being in the Maasai tribe I got to see an overflowing joy that I have never witnessed before. The children would smile even with 15 flies on their faces. They would smile even when their feet were freezing because they don't all have shoes. They would STILL be smiling when their clothes reeked of milk and were torn. The joy that came from their faces each day would leave a grin on my face for hours. That joy could only be given from God. After seeing the work done in the Maasai tribe, He challenged me to have that kind of joy.  God answered my prayer just the other night. I...

Love Through the Dirt

The other day ,while we were in the Masaaii tribe, a few of us girls on the team were reading, talking and journaling when a little African girl, from the tribe, came and sat down next to us. She was so willing to watch us, listen to us, smile with us, and just do whatever we were doing. We could tell that she wanted to be like us, she wanted to go where we were going and she trusted everything we told her. ” Hakuna matata” it means no worries

I love the Maasai! I love the people, the stars at night and lifestyle…" Hakuna matata"    For the last two weeks we have been  living in our tents outside the  Tangi Tatu church in Massai land. Home is Where the Heart is!

My home is heaven because that is where my heart is.  This thought dawned on me the other night.  I mean I had thought about it before, but it hit me in a new way.  My home is heaven!  It does not matter where in the world I am.  I am not really any more at home in the United States than I am in Kenya.    Sure “my family” lives in the United States but really I have family everywhere.  I am part of God’s family, and I am continually meeting more family members.  I rejoice when a new brother or sister is born into...

Oh. My. Stars.

I'll never forget the night I was laying in my tent about to start crying because I just wanted to go home. I had taken out my headphones & heard one of my teammates scream. I listened a little longer & they told everyone to come outside. So we all did & we looked up & there were the stars. I litterally have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. There were so many… They were so close… They looked like sparkly diamonds.    God then showed me how big he really is. The BIG God that planted every single one of those stars in the sky that...
