Aching Heart

Early this morning after breakfast, we were going through the orphan folders, reading and placing their pictures with their folders. As I was reading most of them I would glance at the picture and read a little bit, feeling sorry and wanting to do something. But as I was flipping through I came across this folder with Freddie and Felix's name on it. These two little boys live behind Bishop's house (where we are staying), we have played and really hav gotten to know them well. Freddie reminds me so much of me when I was a little kid. He is always smiling and he has this amazing talent of drumming. He can listen to any song we play for him and he can easily drum with the beat within seconds. Freddie is only 5 years old and his younger brother Felix is only two and half years old. Felix is the sweetest little boy. The past two times I have held him, he has fallen asleep in my arms. These kids are truly amazing but have a mother who tries to provide but can't. Their older sister Sarah, who is 9, is the only one who can attend school. Freddie should be in school and Felix in the Nursery program but there mom can't afford it. They live in this tiny apartment for the four of them, with no electricity or running water. There mother can't find work, so most nights she leaves the three kids home alone while she sets out for the streets for prostitution.
When  I read this my heart sank, and as I left I began to cry. Usually when you look at pictures of orphans and read their files you know them onlyl through paper and a picture, but having the privilege to know Freddie and Felix and then finding out about their background and what they go through each day and night breaks my heart. I want to take them away from their pain and sorrow and give them a life filled with happiness. All I can do right now is pray for them and have faith in our God that He will provide for them and protect them in this time of need. So I ask that you keep Freddie and Felix in your prayers. Pray that one day they will be able to go to school and have a decent childhood where they don't ever have to worry about if they are going to go to bed hungry or not.
