I am in an interesting position this year. On September 14, 2010 I entered Kenya for the first time. I came with eight other Real Life participants and our leaders Nick and Hannah. I loved the country and my team, the Lord used that time to break me down and build me up again as His son. When I left I didn't know if I would ever see the people we had worked with again.
Now I'm back as one of the leaders, and it gives me a unique perspective. It might not matter much to some of you, but this is the last "Real Life" trip to Kenya, the program is undergoing changes. AIM has been sending teams here for a long time and I believe this season right now is seeing the fruition of the work of those who have gone before. This is the time when the prophecies spoken over this country are being fulfilled.
I don't know exactly how fruitful previous teams have been, except that they prayed for rain and rain came. In my experience last year the Lord did some amazing things, we saw rain come again, people saved and lives forever changed but I would not exactly call the spiritual ground bountiful. Many men and women have gone before us and have prepared the way. Now our team is getting to reap what we have not sown. In our first two weeks we went to Tangi-Tatu, and the Lord saw it good to add seventeen new sons and daughters to His family! We would show up, people hearts were so ready that we didn't even have to speak. They immediately said they wanted to accept the Lord. It was incredible, it is a testament to the Lord rewarding the faithfulness of his servants. I have seen a widow, suffering from AIDS herself go from mourning in the early day to joy and laughter at night from her new found freedom in Christ. This place is alive with the Spirit.
So if any RL alumni are reading this, thank you. We owe much to the first missionaries who came to this land many of them died before seeing a single convert, may the Lord bless them and reward their faithfulness. For my former team, and all other past RL teams know that your work was not in vain, and that the Spirit did not stop moving when you left. The things that you helped set in motion are bringing revival to this country. So God bless you, remember to pray for these people and continue to be faithful, because the Lord is rewarding your past faithfulness even now. I can't really express it in words, but I know and can feel how prepared these places are, how lasting and significant your contributions have been.
The land is exceedingly good.
