“For the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
Meet Vicki and Margaret: Margaret, the wife of Pastor Simon who pastors the church near where we stay, and Vicki, Margaret’s niece. Two women who didn’t know our group one bit before we met them about two weeks ago here in Kijabe, but who have dedicated the next two-and-a-half months of their lives to serving us.
To me, these women are the epitome of servants. They cook two meals a day for our group of 14 and sometimes clean up after us. They receive hardly any compensation or reward, just a little income and the praise and thanks our group can’t extend enough of to them. These two women possess a servant’s heart, walking as Jesus did. They live out their faith daily, walking in obedience to the Father, following Jesus’ example. They have become like moms to us, providing us with more than just meals, but love, encouragement, and guidance as well. 🙂
I can’t ever tell them with words eloquent or meaningful enough just how much they have helped our team and shown us Jesus. I believe He is well-pleased with them. My prayer is that I and we become more of a sevant by looking at Jesus, who is the ultimate servant, giving His life for mine and clothing me with His righteousness that I don’t deserve. I am so thankful for the servant hearts of these two beautiful women God has placed in our lives while we’re here. What a journey this has already been 🙂
Please pray for healing for sickness that has been circling its way through our group since we returned from the Maasai tribe. Pray for unity of our group and depth of relationships both in our group and with the people we meet. Thanks!
Kelli
