Have you ever gone a week without sleep?
Team Kenya has.
Where we live we are surrounded by neighbors, i really enjoyed that until about a week ago….on one sunday evening our neigbor lost her husband around 12:00 at night. When she realized he had died she burst out in tears sobbing. I felt awful for the women. I heard her cries until mid morning. I asked a neighbor boy what had happened exactly…..he told me her husband had just been sick for a long time and his death was expected. I'm sure that doesn't make it any easier, but it helped me to know how to pray for him more specifically.
About a three days later loud music started playing around 8:00 pm and did not stop until around 7:00 am, mt whole team had a hard time sleeping through it. Little did we know that would coninue everynight for the next week. When i say loud i mean LOUD i mean feeling the base vibrations in your body as your lay in bed LOUD!
We asked around and figured out what was the meaning of this. So…are you ready for this!…..
They women whose husband died needed to raise money in order for him to have a nice funeral. Understandable right? NOT….the idea is that the loud music keeps everyone awake through the night so that you get so pissed off that you are forced to donate because when the amount needed is raised the music will stop. Not only that it is club music and another way to donate is atteneding the "party" and paying to get danced with..
The paster (our contact) called the poice on them so that the volume would decrease but they paid the police off. (Gotta love the Kenyan Government)
So in result my team and i were on no sleep for a little over eight days. We Were so happy when we heard the news….he had been baried. NO MORE MUSIC!!!
