What God Taught Me!

Well, time is ticking away and it’s getting hard saying bye to everyone. God has given me the most amazing experience I ever had in my life. He as taught me many things about my self and what it means to live for Him. This is probably one of my last blogs so I wanted to tell you a few things that I learned.

Holy Spirit-

On this mission trip I have depended on the Holy Spirit to come through more than I ever have. I have also felt the rush of Him more times than I have. Before coming to Christ I would worry about my appearance or what people thought of me instead of letting the Spirt guide me.  Sometimes, I would even worry about getting to much of the Spirit. What if He would tell me to do something I didn’t want to do? Would I do it? No, because what would people think. Right? Sometimes, we fear that God is going to fail us. So, we start asking for less, expect less, and are satisfied with less and that leads to feeling like we don’t want more God and say we have all the God we need. I will be honest with you. Half the time God told me to do something on this trip I had fear, but God never left my side once. There were things I have done in ministry that I know I wouldn’t have been able to do without God. Let’s crucify our flesh and let the Spirit of God transform us into the people He wants us to be.

Giving your life to Christ-

Maybe one of the scariest things in the world, but after you do you will wonder why you weren’t living your whole life like this. We constantly say we will wait to give your lives to God because we are still young. Reading this verse really changed people who were “christians” but didn’t live for God. James 4:13-14 “Now  listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? you are a midst that appears for a little while and then vanishes. The point is we are not promised a month from now, heck we are not promised 10 minutes from now. We are a midst that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 80 years from now, who is going to remember you? This life is a blink of an eye compared to eternity but its the most important blink. It’s the decision of where you are going to go after death. Where do you want to spend eternity?

Love-

It wouldn’t matter if I forgot everthing that happend on this trip as long as I remembered this word. I can’t comprehend God’s love for us. God’s love is crazy and like no other. He put us on this Earth to love Him and everyone else on it. If we have faith, knowledge, generosity, but do not have love, we are nothing. So, what is love? Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not selfseeking, it is not easy angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserveres. (1 Cor. 13:4-7) “Love the lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind. (Matt. 22:37) Think about going to heaven right now and putting whatever you want there Stop! Think about it……………. Ok, now if Jesus wasn’t there would it matter to you. “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt 22:39) “Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” (Eph. 5:25) Everything is LOVE! I encourage you to live out one week with God’s love and see what He does with it.
