Hello friends!
I don’t know if you knew this but…. I’m in Kenya. I’m sorry its taken such a long time for me to update. As you have read from some of the other blogs TIA is an abbreviation we live by here. Yes, This Is Africa. Internet is hard to come by and so are showers. But, I am having such an amazing time and wouldn’t change a thing!
As soon as we got to Kijabe we were informed that we would be spending the next two weeks visiting the Massai and Turkana tribes. We would have one day to rest and then it was off into the African bush to live with each of these people groups for a week. And that’s exactly what we did!
First, we visited the Massai tribe in Tangi Tatu. That is when I actually realized that I was in Africa. We didn’t have electricity, running water, beds, we had to bring toilet paper for the “squatty potty” that kinda far away, and we had to have night guards to protect us from the hyenas. Sweet. I wasn’t sure how the week was going to turn out, but I was excited to go on this adventure! We spent the majority of that time doing hut to hut visits and simply talking and getting to know the people. They were incredible. We asked many of them what we couild pray for and they all had the same answer – rain. We prayed for rain and guess what? It rained every single day we were there! Praise the Lord. He is faithful! I saw such joy and hope in those previous faces I was so blessed to come into contact with! Their passionate singing and unhindered worship brought tears to my eyes every single night. The pastor, Josphat, really loves the people there and goes to great lengths to visit them in their homes. They were simply amazing people, and I will never forget them. I will also never forget how cool it was to see zebras, giraffes, gazelles, warthogs, and baboons just chillin on the side of the road. Really? That’s so cool!
Nothing can seperate us from the love of Christ. Nothing. That is something that I’ve been told many many times, but have actually just realized. He. Loves. Me. This overly simple truth has changed my life in ways I can’t describe and I want so badly to share it with others! God is working in my life, changing my heart, and molding me into the precious and priceless daughter He has always seen me as. And that is something beautiful.
Love and miss you all!
Anna
