Lies

Hello from Kenya!

We just spent an entire week with the Turkana tribe.  Everyday we did evangelizing with our translators Peter (27), Samuel (26), and Simon (24) (Simon and Peter are brothers.  I would put I picture up of them but I don’t think I will be able to.)  The area is heavily plagued with alcoholism, drugs, and prostitution.  All are so present mainly because there is a rock quarry near, where many of the men work.  The job is so demanding (most is done by hand) that the men feel that they must either be drunk or high, or have some type of pleasure to do their work.  Therefore, Satan has a heavy presence in the area.

The combination of being at the quarry and recent struggles in my life (living up to others expectations) has really opened my eyes to how this world is Satan’s place.  As believers we live in a world of sin (Eph. 2: 1-3).  Satan tries to use people with power, people close to ourselves, and even our old self (the flesh) to lie to us to think we have to give into the flesh of the deeds (Gal. 5:19-21).  The sooner we quit being “ignorant of his schemes” (2 Cor. 2: 11) and start taking every though to Christ and compare it to the “knowledge of God” (2 Cor. 10: 5) we can be set free from the Satan’s tactics and lies.  So make sure what people are telling you and even what yourself is telling you, is consistent with the Word of God or just another lie from the enemy.

I want to ask that you continually pray for Simon, Peter, and Samuel because they all are examples to the men and women in that area who are trapped by the lies of Satan.  They have discovered the truth God has shown us through his Word.

Sam
